It is the third of June once again. However, weather forecasts indicate that this will not be a dusty Delta day. Attempting to chop cotton would likely get one mired in “gumbo mud”. Baling hay is also contra-indicated. Though not as universally recognized, lauded and revered, this is the 25th anniversary of **Zoe** ’s and my meeting face-to-face for the first time, after three months of electronic conversations. It was at IHOP. That IHOP had been removed from the vacant lot it was on, but we did get a menu from there shortly before it was torn down. Strange how the two occasions have fused in my mind all these years and that it takes that song to make it easy to remember. Marrying on New Year’s Day was also a memory aid. ---

You think it’s hard to hear the lyrics of Billy Joe, try being a Canadian and figuring out Mississippi Delta. Ya know…the preacher did say something about seeing a girl that looked a lot like you up on Choctaw Ridge. There’s a Drive-In up there now. Think they’re showing a grindhouse flick called Chop Chop Ridge. ---
