# It's finally over - my year-long battle with the IRS

It’s finally over. I’ve been fighting with the IRS for about 14 months about my 2003 return. I filed an amended return, paid what I calculated I owed, and waited. They held this year’s refund because of it. I ended up having to send the amended return three times because they kept losing it (although they had and cashed the check I sent with it). Yesterday I got a letter saying that $928 should be sent to me (or deposited in my checking account, more probably) within two weeks. It’s finally over.

**ivylass** - Being unemployed, I’d taken 2 IRA early distributions and had tax taken from one and not the other - I forgot to that when I filed. I sent an amended return, itemize and got some extra deductions, and a check for the difference. They cashed the check and nevver processed the amended return. That was nearly a year ago. I had to mail it twice more before they finally worked it.
