My sympathies - if it were only in my power, I’d happily send some of our heat your way. We don’t have air conditioning yet - it’s part of the whole front and back yard landscaping project that is about a month away. We therefore need to sleep with the windows open at night. Our neighbours next door and two houses away have antique air conditioners that generate more noise than cool air, and seem to be on for 50 minutes every hour. Not that the neighbours notice - they’ve got their windows closed! With the sudden heat in Toronto right now, the grass pollen count shot up from 2 -3 to the high 30s this week. Between no sleep, round two of a cold and this feeling like I’ve been hit with a baseball bat, I would happily ship about 15 degrees celsius out to the prairies. Is there no way for everywhere in the country to have pleasant weather at the same time? Or, if not pleasant, at least seasonal? Off to lie down with an ice pack on my sinuses… ---

Yep, the calendar tells me that it’s May 31. Unfortunately, the weather outside is more like November. I’m getting tired of clouds, rain, and snow (yes, it _snowed_ one night last week); and temps that never get into the double-digits on the Celsius scale. ---

Cold and rainy here in the PNW. Tomorrow we’re supposed to receive as much rain as we normally receive for the entire month of June! Soooo very sick of the rain. I don’t generally like temps much above 75 degrees, but at this point I’d take a little heat. ---

We have a new yard that has a new hedge this spring - I normally wouldn’t be putting all those plants in this early, but they have me at a Catch-22 - if I don’t buy the plants now, once they’re gone, they’re gone, and we needed more than 30 of them for the hedge. We spend a cold evening covering the hedge with plastic on Saturday night. They seem to have survived, mostly (the cheap plants don’t look too good, though). I’m counting on cotoneasters to be tough enough to handle this. I planted a bunch of raspberry sprouts just before the snow, too - they don’t seem to be bothered by it, though. No surprise, really, since raspberries are basically weeds. I really wish we could even things out - we could all meet somewhere in the middle. I’ll tell you, this was one cranky city on Saturday, with snow on the ground and more coming down. My next plant I put in the ground will be mid-July, I think. 🙂 ---

We didn’t get snow here in Saskatchewan, but other than that, we probably have it as bad as you Albertans do, so at least be comforted by that. I’m quite jealous of your much nicer winters compared to ours though. ---
