Since the Stanley Cup playoffs have started how about NHL awards? Stanley, Art Ross, Lady Byng, Hart, Vezina, Calder, Conn Smythe, Rocket Richard, Masterson, Selke, Lindsay. I’m sure I forgot some. Several of these could be boy or girl names. ---

My son, currently a dorm-denizen at college and therefore catless, dreams of the day when he can have his own cat. He plans to name it Schismogenesis (why yes, he’s nerdy, why do you ask?). I like it, because it lends itself to so many nicknames - skitzy, skizmo, mo, jenny, sissy, and probably others. So a mom cat could be Schismogenesis and the offspring could have names deriving from that. Dignified variants like Maurice and Jennifer are completely acceptable, of course. ---

In this same vein, way back in college when I was being humbled by organic chemistry, I soothed my psyche by dreaming of the day I could get a cat – an orange tabby, for obvious reasons – and call it [Zingiberene](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zingiberene). I suppose kitty names could be knocked off that one: Zing, Gin, Berene, Bree, Rene. Or riff on all things ginger: Snap, Chew, Ale, Beer, Bread, Pickle, Curry, Beef, Spice and, for the odd one out, Mary Ann. ---
