Well, so far, so good - looks like I have an apartment lined up. I spent this morning at the Social Security Administration to get myself ā€œa socialā€. Now I get to fight with the MVA about whether my Canadian license is good enough, or they want me to take a driving test. I reeeeally hope they donā€™t make me prove my skill, because I swear I will wet my pants if we get anywhere _near_ the Beltway. But I think Iā€™ll like it here once things settle down. How could I not, with so many Dopers around? **OnlyMostlyDead** - I love duckpin bowling! Mostly because Iā€™m a sissy girl who canā€™t hang onto the giant bowling ball, so I need the little one. Yeah, I know crabs are what MDā€™s all about. So please donā€™t throw me out for not liking seafood! Iā€™m working on it, though, I swear! I even ate a scallop yesterday! ---

[/QUOTE] Here in St. Maryā€™s county, driving tests are done on a closed course behind the MVA office - and it looks just like the closed course I used in Glen Burnie back in '71. So even if they want you to prove you can drive, it should be a piece oā€™pie! And welcome to the Free State! Weā€™ll have to include a little tour in Gingyā€™s fest - we can all walk across Putty Hill Road and down Water Oak to Amuskai - to the house where I spent my formative years. A pilgrimmage, if you will. šŸ˜ƒ ---

As for the MVA, I believe all but one location do their driving tests on closed courses (but it _has_ been a few years since I took my driving test). So, no, they wonā€™t make you get on the Beltway. Once you get settled, it looks like there would be enough interest for a duckpin bowling Dopefest, and we can give you a proper welcome. ---

I always thought it was funny the way festival performers are treated by some people. Like they are gods or something. Iā€™m a little more curious than most about them because I really admired them. Kinda in a class of their own on that circuit. I do some acting and performing myself, and I learned alot watching them. Oh well, Congrats on the move, **Antigen** , sorry for the hijack! ---
