Do you remember the Happy Thoughts forum that was with us for just a very short time earlier this year? I cried a single tear today thinking about it being gone for good but then I realized that there is nothing technically against the rules about posting a bunch of positive and cheerful things in a SDMB thread. Dopers just aren’t naturally inclined that way unless coaxed. You know the drill. This is a happy thread for positive people with great news and cute stories or pictures of ducklings walking single file. There are no negative thoughts allowed including sarcasm, in jokes, and/or oblique references. Today was one of the few sunny days this summer and I didn’t have to go to work. I filled my son’s pool with water so he could “go swimming” after his nap. He loved it. ---

I’m going on vacation Saturday, and starting it off right with a celebration Friday. Friday’s also me-and-the-Mister’s 11 anniversary. We’re having friends over, and his fun sister and husband are flying up to join us. It’ll be a hoot and I can’t wait. Two more days! ---

My SO and I sat next to each other on the porch and were actually able to stand a little snuggle without sticking to each other, while we watched a pretty neat little thunderstorm. This morning, I woke to find all the windows open, the air conditioner in the living room off and a very nice breeze blowing through. Thanks for opening the windows, honey! ---

My son came downstairs last night. He said “Dad, I thought I farted, but…” I said “But you sharted?” He, stunned, said “It has a name?!” The joy of teaching, the joy of discovery, and the joy of parenting all in one go. I won’t remember his math tests or his recitals. They’ll all run together. But the first time he learned of a shart? That’s forever. (I am sincere in this, and not trying to thread shit/shart. Parenting is a weird ass endeavor.) ---
