That happened a month ago right before my front door, too. City men. At 7 am precisely. Those guys start at seven and mine was the first home on the list. And this is inner city, so the leafblower was literally six yards from our bed, if you count 2 yard across the sidewalk and 4 yards straight up towards the open window. Man, we shoudl have worn those protective earplugs, we were almost closer to the dam thing then the guy working it.

I stormed out in my pyama and gave the guy working it my best “angry nutcase woman who might go berserk any minute”-stare. The noise was too loud to say anything. After I went in again, the noise stopped, thank god. But I \*was \*the only one in my part f the street that came out of her home.

I can understand snow blowers better than leaf blowers, at least. For a snow blower, maybe they work super-early, snow fell overnight, and they really need to blow out the driveway so they can get to work. These maniacs with leaf blowers do not have their cars trapped in their driveways by leaf accumulation.

The most obnoxious prick in our townhouse development lives next door to me. He uses a leaf blower to blow dry his damned pickup truck AND his damned BMW EARLY every Sunday morning when he washes them.

Why yes, yes I could. However since that would make it ugly and rather defeat the purpose of the careful landscaping that I put in, instead I choose, once or twice a year, to use a leaf blower for ten minutes at the least disruptive time I can. Given that virtually everyone else in the neighborhood uses one or hires a lawn service that uses one far more than I do, I refuse to feel guilty about it.

There are one or two jobs for which a leaf blower is the optimal tool. Such as cleaning leaves from around bushes. Not having a blower, I’m content to maintain such areas somewhat less than meticulously. Keeping one’s lawn and garden less than perfectly manicured takes SO much less effort.

I can imagine that some folks feel that once they have the darned things, they should figure out as many uses for it as possible. I have seen people up on roofs blowing out their gutters! My neighbor is nearly 90 years old, and yardwork is his main activity. In the fall he loves to put his leaf blower on suction mode and suck up leaves one at a time for hours on end, day after day. Really can make you hate an otherwise relatively innocuous old man!

I wonder what would happen if you shoved the tube up the guy’s butt and turned it on? Alternate that with suction mode.😃

Oh my favorite is the guy who uses his leafblower every damn weekend.

I should point out that he has no leaves to clean up. We live in the city.

So what is he doing? Cleaning up dirt from the patch of sidewalk in front of his house. Cleaniing it up by blowing it all over the damn street. If you are unlucky enough to be walking down the street while he is cleaning, you’ll have to wash your eyes to get out all of the dirt.

I want to yell, “USE A BROOM, already!”

Well if you leave the leaves on your sodding sod, pretty soon you have dastardly dead spots on your sodding sod, and you have to waste water seeding it with sodding sod seed to get it to grow again.

Me too, I hate leaf blowers too.
I hate it when the landscaping service people use a leaf blower to clear the property they’ve just weed-whacked of leaves and bits of grass, and they blow the debris onto the neighbors’ lawns and into the street. What is up with that? They all do it, it seems.

God I am glad I don’t live in quiet suckburbia where every sound of a machine breaks through the standard ambience.

At least in New York I have constant noise so it takes someone being REALLY FUCKING LOUD to bother me. And if they are that loud at an inappropriate time I can reasonably call the cops.

Man, don’t most suckburbs have ordnances about how you bag your trash or about how late you can play your stereo at night? There should be ordnances about power tools in the morning also then.

It’s funny how early risers get so pissed off if you disturb their sleep at night but have no problem inconveniencing your sleep in the morning.

Hmmm. I live in the heart of the Atlanta city limits and I have a yard. Are you always this fucking stupid, or are you just under the age of 14?

I suppose it could be both…

Odd, I was just about to post how glad I am to be living out in the country where there are only two neighbors within earshot, and we can all go about our lives without bothering one another.

You type but you don’t actually say anything.

Kudos on contentless babbling.

What living in Atlanta or having a yard has to do with what I said, Yes, I am CLEARLY to stupid to understand.
