Well…in some sort of defense…my dad is an old guy with a bad back, and in the winter he uses the leaf blower to blow off the cars, and he’ll do it for the other tenants too, so hopefully that takes the bite off. That, and the fact he waits until everyone is getting ready for work. ---

Built the wood frame, figured out how to use our new (and mostly useless) high powered leaf blower. All that was really left was putting the blower (easily removable, which I also figured out how to do) on the platform. Then the SO gave me a long rash of shit about how it would not work. Now the carcass sits behind the shed and any day now I will chop it up with a chainsaw for firewood ☹ ---

Former stupid neighbor was up on the roof of his garage until midnight one weeknight, hammering nails into the tarpaper (no shingles). Until I went out and said something. Then he was back out there at 6am doing the same. In my current apartment, the people below me moved a piano in and up the stairs at midnight on a monday night. At 7am the next morning someone from the city was using a power saw to cut part of the concrete curb across the street. That lasted about 5 minutes before he packed it in and left the scene. Probably a lot of very rapid “what the hell are you doing?” calls made. ---

It must frustrate the OP that, as a cop he can’t arrest or cite the person, or so I presume. It sure as hell frustrates me as a citizen. I’ve read up on outlaw bike clubs (e.g. Hells Angels). I’m sure I read somewhere of people who had bikers move into the house next door and be subjected to constant bike engine noises. Naturally, though, they wouldn’t complain to anyone or report it for fear of retaliation. Now with gas powered gardening tools we are subjected the exact same thing on a routine basis. I suspect the scenario about the outlaw biker neighbors is apocryphal. Based on what I’ve read, most of them try to comply with noise ordinances and other laws of that type, because they don’t want to draw attention to themselves and get hassled for something minor. This would seem to follow more for the ones that really are engaged in serious felonies. ---

And what is relevant about pointing out that you have a lawn in the city limits? People have lawns in New York City too in some places. And actually that wasn’t my point at all. My point was that the constant noise just blends into the background for me, which is better than having the pristine quiet of a suburb suddenly shattered by the noise of a leaf blower. Leaf blowers at 6-7AM are really fucking annoying. I totally agree. But that doesn’t legitimize your non-sequitur in any way. ---
