And of course, they usually cut this line in reruns. I figure comedy-impaired monkeys are responsible for the editing.

Did you watch the episode this past season where Bart and Lisa saw their future selves after their parents’ divorce?

Where was Homer living?

I swear, with God as my witness, that one day I shall use Gamblor when I’m in a casino.

I also really love $pringfield. It got even funnier after I started gambling. And the James Bond outtake is just great.

I don’t think there’s a bad joke in that whole ep. From Homer’s adventures with the pimps and CHUDS to Bart’s visit to MAD Magazine headquarters to the Broadway musical parody, it’s all good.

“I have Mountain Dew and crab juice.”

“Ewww, blech. Give me a crab juice!”

In fact, I think they also cut the “Oh, by the way, I was being sarcastic” line.

Most TV sitcoms in syndication have two minutes or so that aren’t important to the plot edited out to make more room for commercials. Although it’s common practice, it’s mainly _Simpsons_ fans who are aware of it. That’s the great thing about DVDs- you get to see what they took out in syndication (usually- I’m looking at you, Dr. Huxtable!). I guess “advertisers” count as “comedy-impaired monkeys.” (Although the “Oh, and in case you can’t tell I’m being sarcastic/Well, duh” exchange is edited from the syndicated print of _Flaming Moe’s_, it appears uncut in a clip from the same episode in the syndicated print of _The Simpsons’ 138th Episode Spectacular_ during the “I think Homer gets stupider every year” sequence.)

Yeah, I do realize that. It’s usually no big deal, but “Well DUH” is the capper on that scene. It does suffer without it. I can only think of one other time where I thought “aw, they cut the best joke in that scene,” but I forget which time that was.

My favourite Simpsons quote:

Don’t forget the follow up:

Homer: [phone rings] Hello?
Burns: Is it about my cube?

How about the Dr. Doom (was it Doom?) scene in the jail in Who Shot Mr. Burns Part II?

Sideshow Mel: You’ve arrested the wrong man!!!
Wiggum: Wha? Okay, Dr. Doom, you’re free to go. Just stay away from Misery Mountain.
Dr. Doom: Awww, all my stuff is there.

Bah! Doom is a rank amateur compared to… Doctor Colossus! Bwa-ha-hah-hahah-ha-ha! [pushes button for “Colosso-Boots”, smashes head on cell ceiling] When’s my lawyer getting here?

For true comedy gold, watch Burns’s expression as Homer reads the messages to him. The dialogue is hilarious in itself, but the expressions he goes through are the icing on the cake.

I liked how, every time Homer tried to fix breakfast for Mr. Burns, it would catch on fire. Even the cereal.

Actualy, it’s Dr. Colossus, who was introduced in Lisa vs Malibu Stacey as a former husband of the Malibu Stacey creator.

And there are two parts with Dr. C, one where he hits his head on the jail cell, and the other with the above exchange (though it’s death mountain.) And BOTH are cut in syndication. Damn nation!

Oh, and my favorite Homer sarcasm line is:

Homer: Yes, Marge, I’ll do that. Then I’ll kiss some snakes. Yes, I’ll hug and kiss some poisonous, snaaaaaaakes. Now THAT’S sarcasm.

I’m partial to “The Man Who Had To Struggle for Everything”

“After the explosion, he spent years recuperating, teaching himself to talk and feel pain.”

“I live in an apartment under a bowling alley and over another bowling alley!”

Grimey: “You’ve been in outer space?”
Homer (politely) "You _haven’t?_

Marge (to Lisa): “I don’t think you should go down in the basement. Homer’s working on a very complicated project for the nuclear plant there.”
Homer: “Marge! Do we have any of those colored macaroni noodles?”
