It’s my birthday and I am thirty. Whoo-hoo! Of course I haven’t reached all of my childhood goals (Before I am thirty I want to…). For example, I haven’t won an Oscar. Maybe by the time I am 31. ---

My, how “well-preserved” you look, ma’am! There will come a day - not that far off - when you can’t believe houw YOUNG 30 was. For me, the birthday that resonated the most was not my own, but when my darling firstborn turned 18! Happy b-day! Freakin’ kids. **grumble grumble grumble** (Speaking of which – I actually told some kids to get out of my yard the other night. Note: night. It was 10:00 at night and some kids from the extended-family birthday party in the other half of my twin hopped the wall between our front porches, crossed the porch, and went down into my garden. That area isn’t lit at night, and there’s a fence between the sidewalk and my yard – damn, do I sound defensive? – so they really shouldn’t’ve been there.) Anyway, happy birthday! ---

I’m also not convinced. 30 Canadian years isn’t equivalent to 30 American years. I’m not entirely sure how yet. I’m woking on it, but that’s my original hypothesis. Perhaps it’s something you guys have in the water or maybe the abnormally high person-to-moose ratio. ---

I am now thirty, and still working on my first novel. And my oscar. And the nobel peace prize. Should be able to accomplish that by thirty-one, I figure. 🙂 So far it’s pretty good.
