Robin Williams hails from the great state of Michigan. Went to Country Day and lived in either Franklin or West Bloomfield. Names that are like Pat: Taylor Kim Dakota Madison Tyler Danni/Danny There’s a bunch more that I see every time I pass a day care place that posts the kids names of who is having a birthday. The name Beverly use to be a man’s name way back when. A name I always liked for a girl ( and subsequently vetoed is Henri-Ann. could just call her Hank 🙂 * * * The early bird gets the worm but it’s the second mouse that gets the cheese. ---

I used to know a girl named Hester (mom’s maiden name), and I also know a man and a woman named Sloane. One of my old boyfriends wanted to name his firstborn Haight, as in Haight-Ashbury. He just thought it sounded cool. ---

I recently found out that my grandfather’s given name was Vivian. He hated it and changed it to his middle name (Kenneth) as soon as he could. It doesn’t get brought up at family gatherings, to say the least. I also have a friend (female) whose name is Micole, pronounced like Michael. EVERYONE who sees it rhymes it with Nicole. ---

I named my son Quinn, after the Bob Dylan song, only to find out afterward that approximately 24% (that would be about fifteen kids) of the newborn Quinns in the U.S. are girls. ---

How 'bout Tony (my name)/Toni and Val (my wife). What bugged me in school was that the school secretary would always spell my name with an “i”. “That’s how girls spell it!” I’d tell her every time. She’d roll her eyes and correct it. ---

I briefly went to high school (long story) with guys named: Sputt Winston Alton Tuck Hutch Crit (short for Crittendon) J (it’s not an initial, his name _is_ the letter J) Lep Knox Walker Kendall Hazen (last name Page. Really and truly) Julian (last name Tune, brother’s name Jet) Bub Houston Cannon Ward Trey Shelby Following today’s trend, many of these could be used for boys or girls, and the list goes on and on. This giving-your-kid-a-weird-name thing isn’t new (hey, I’m TYLER!), the names are just getting more outlandish and more weirdly spelled. It’s off the subject, but … Marion Barry’s given name is Marion too! Okay, you probably already knew that, but, what’s the deal? Were his parents incorrigibly cruel, or are marionberries a new discovery? Or a new hybrid? He could have had a brother named “Salmon” fer cryin out loud!
