It seems the esteemed @digs is unaware that “tonto” in @Yllaria’s post is almost certainly a typo or autocorrect error for what was intended to be “total” or “totes” . Either that or I’ve been pretty thoroughly whooshed. Wouldn’t be the first time. Nor the last. Just the most recent. 🙂 ---

Was using ‘tonto’ as meaning ‘extreme fan’, ‘crazy interested’, or just “extreme”. Can’t find that by googling, though, so it may be part of my ideolect. ---

That’s because it’s [Spanish](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/tonto). Though as listed: > Because of the Native American sense of _[Tonto](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Tonto#English)_ popularized by its use as the name of the sidekick of the [Lone Ranger](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lone_Ranger), even as a Spanish loanword this term can be understood as a racial slur in English. Maybe that’s why I (luckily) haven’t heard it used that way. ---

I got a letter from the DMV today. They don’t think my car is insured. 😟 I bought in November and insured it the next day, and I haven’t had any lapses in insurance. The weird thing is, they listed an insurance company that is not the insurance company I’m using. I hope this doesn’t turn into a huge mess, but state government is involved, so I won’t be surprised if it’s much harder than it needs to be. ---

A similar thing happened to a friend of mine here in FL. He had an RV that was for sale at an out-of-state dealer but registered and insured in FL. Something went wrong and the insurance was not renewed. I think there was a change in his residence address involved. So the DMV sent the “You better get insurance” notice to where he had lived, not where he did live. Their next step was to revoke his driver’s license for owning a non-insured vehicle. At least they sent that notice to the address on his license: the new one. Cue major multi-month flail to correct this. Which also caused trouble with his employer. Bottom line being: at least some states have very large sanctions for apparently uninsured vehicles. Attack this vigorously before it gets worse. A lot worse. ---

My late first wife spent many long days sitting in that chair over many long years. With me sitting alongside on a stool. Dress warmly. As in long underwear, three layers of shirts and a sweater, warm heavy sox, etc. That is not the place for a thin blouse, cute shorts, and high-heeled sandals. Functional rules the day. If you have a chest port, make sure it can be reached through your various shirts. V-necks and button- or zip-front shirts / blouses / sweaters / sweatshirts work well; tight necks or open in the back do not. The facility should have pre-heated blankets available. Do not be bashful about asking for them and changing them out when they’ve cooled off. They probably have volunteers to handle these creature comfort tasks while the licensed professionals handle the stuff only they can do. Figure out who is who; their distinctive clothing makes it pretty easy. If the staff there is any good they know the routine and they know a newbie will need extra care and feeding until they’ve learned the drill. Ask lots of questions. The only dumb question is the one preying on your mind unasked. The chair itself is almost certainly a recliner and may have heat or massage features. Ask. Take them up on their offers; this is difficult shit you’re going through. Speak up about any physiological oddities you experience. Some are benign, some might not be, and the sooner they know about any weirdness you’re experiencing, the better the outcome. Yes, they are busy. But not too busy to be interrupted if you’re having what might be a problem. You can’t tell the difference, but they can. Cry “wolf” if it’s weird; that’s OK. Accept their offers of tea or whatever. Even if your tummy doesn’t much want tea, your psyche will appreciate a fellow human doing something for you, token though it may be. Really, trust me on this. Bring plenty to read and charger(s) for your electronic toy(s). They may have in-seat TV available if that’s good for you. If not, bring earplugs, for it’s a virtual certainty there is one deaf TV addict in the room whose political views clash with your own far more refined standards. Bonus tip: IME they’re always the open weave cotton type of thermal blankets, i.e., not very warm when they aren’t under a sheet or coverlet or such. So just tell them you’re ‘cold blooded’ and ask for two right off the bat. ---
