I can usually do a mile in 15-16 minutes. My husband has a hard time keeping up with me. I’m 70.

I really hate people getting “engaged” as a perfomance. At least two times friends/acqaintacnes have done this. Most renctly on Friday.
first one, they had already set the date, picked out the engagement ring, and planned a lot of the wedding stuff before he proposed at midnight at a NYE party with a bunch of friends.
Saturday, another couple after having already planned the details of the ceremony for months, (my group has a court where we give out awards and such) proposes to her in front of the captive audience.
So in both these cases they were engaged and planning the wedding before this public proposal… I guess they dont have to be worried about getting turned down.
Maybe I am just an old fuddy-duddy but I dont see the point in making a perfomance out of the proposal. SMH.

This occurred to me last week, so still April:

How is it that I always end up living northwest from where I work, so I’m driving into the sun both morning and evening, and messing with the visor from side window to front window every time I turn?

For a couple of years I lived SW of work so only had to flip down the visor going east or west, but then we moved and I’m NW again.

And did I mention my visor has a screw loose, which despite regular tightening just falls off into my lap every so often?

If it makes you feel better, this is not always the case. You have a choice of whether or not certain therapies are right for your kid and, once they are in school, things get a lot easier. We use kids club, the school sponsored wrap around daycare for our daughter’s care needs and she gets her therapies at school. We decided against ABA therapy because her needs were being met with the speech, OT, and PT she was getting at school, along with social work services. So far, we’ve both been able to keep our jobs and still make sure our kid gets everything she needs.

Now for rants - self pitting time; We weren’t careful enough when demolishing the equipment for my big project. I had a knot in my stomach about it and I knew something bad was going to happen. And it did. We cut something important. A lot of important things actually It’s gonna be a lot to fix it. ☹

I once rolled my window up, catching the visor in it. It broke something. Now the visor droops when it’s shifted to the side. And when I put it back up, there’s a loud snapping sound. Really loud.

I’ve been hearing talk about these de-facto post-engagement “announcement ceremonies” too. I mean, on one hand I can sympathize with not wanting a crushing public rejection, but hell, something tells me they’d be better off not wasting money on all that and instead putting it into the hideously expensive extravaganza the wedding itself would doubtless be.

I had a conversation with this one girl I’ve known since I was a kid, and in the course of the conversation it turns out that she was married once, engaged twice. One engagement was via her suitor hiring a sky-writer, the other some dramatic gesture in a room full of people. The third, she said in a scoffing tone, about how pathetic it was because the proposal was at the suitor’s home. I guess the spectacle part is normalized now.

My proposal was in public and I definitely knew it was coming, but we were at a park with relatively few people present. What I remember the most about that day is that we were waiting for my husband to get the chance to propose and there was a couple within earshot having an argument, so we had to wait for them to stop arguing to really have that moment. We were both really amused by that. The moment itself was private in the sense that we were just like any other couple hanging out in the park, we just happened to be getting engaged.

I like the idea of public proposals within reason, but I’m a hopeless romantic and want to live in a world where love is publicly celebrated. I definitely think it can be disruptive and over the top though, and I don’t like the idea of someone feeling public pressure to accept a proposal, so I would much rather everyone see it coming.

I feel sorry for the kids who are supposed to do prom-posals now.

(I’m typically good at stocking up, I even order stuff like that on a subscription through Amazon, but apparently my next batch isn’t due until the end of May.) So I go to buy one bottle, and what luck! It’s available for same day shipping! So I’ll be able to have the right stuff for next morning for my shower. The only catch is, it’s less than $5 for a bottle and I ne…
