You can also go to your local motorcycle shop and ask about cooling vests there. Harley gear is very pricey, but excellent quality - plus you will be able to try stuff on before putting money out on it. ---

So, watching CNN because of the local shooting of a Black kid in Kansas City (see the ‘Stupid Gun news of the day’ thread). They flip to a reporter ‘live in Los Angeles’. Sadly, this sort of thing is common enough that there is no point in flying a reporter out here, but who the fuck cares that the reporter is ‘live’ or in Los Angeles? ---

The “live at the scene” reporter has been carried to idiotic lengths by TV newscasts. It’s 10 p.m. on a January night and they have some poor schmuck shivering outside a darkened courthouse or school that closed hours ago - for what? Record a little footage during the day when there’s some activity! Hell, use file footage of the place in question. _If the newsworthy event is no longer happening and there’s no visual trace of it, it’s not “live” news, is it_? ---

The mentally unstable\* adult son of the upstairs neighbors tried to commit suicide-by-cop yesterday. County PD managed to talk him down and led him away in cuffs. I sure hope the parents get him the help that he needs rather than continue trying to manage him themselves. \*He has a history of seeing lights that aren’t there and has heard crying babies that don’t exist. I know this because he’s tried to get us involved in his delusions on multiple occasions. ---

My project has a big problem I don’t know how to solve. And some smaller questions I don’t know how to answer or even who would answer them and my shutdown starts on the 29th and I am PANIC. Panic is not helpful in this or any situation. So I’d like to stop now. But no. Just panic. ---

I am in so much pain right now. A headache started last night, 24 hours ago and my left eye was aching too. These were the first MS symptoms I experienced before my diagnosis, except thr right eye. Naturally i was shitting myself, I finally fell asleep with an ice pack around my head. I woke up with decreased pain, but it ramped up after 2 hours, so I left family lunch and saw the optometrist. My left optic nerve is ok, however theres something wrong between my cornea and iris. Im experiencing some double vision too. Optometrist sent a report to my GP and my GP called me at 5 pm. He wants me to see a neurologist tomorrow as im so recently diagnosed. I am going to call them tomorrow in the hope i can have a phone consultation or there’s a cancelation i can take. Ive chosen a treatment plan, but need to have some vaccinations, tests, and possibly more scans before I can begin. I do realise my privilege in having the optometrists and my gp available instantly. But, this is new and this is a terrifying day. I am in SO MUCH PAIN!! My head feels like its been hit with an axe, from eye to neck. I have taken all of the pain medication I safely can. I cant take any anti inflammatory meds, at least no nsads (spelling?). I had to work for 1 hour yesterday, tried to find a cooling vest over the phone for 45 mins, then went to a motorbike and a tradespeople shop that sells safety gear, to no avail and that took about 30 mins. Popped to the supermarket and had to use a trolley as a walking aid. I felt a weird zap sensation in my leg, then it felt like blood was dripping down my leg from the zap site. That probably took 30 minutes including the short drive home. I saw my dad and watched an episode of our favourite show together, probably visited him for 1.5 hours. My best mate was with me all day, so I had help all day too. So, less than 5 hours, but fuck me it zapped all of my power. I’m paying for it today. Im fucking terrified that this could get worse at any moment. I’m optimistic by nature and strive to acknowledge pockets of joy in my day. Today I bought my 2 greyhounds to my bestie’s to meet her 2 King Charles Cavileres. It was beautiful! The female cav, Gidget has a crush on my Norman and shadowed him My other grey, Victor, more often called Snozzy spent some time patiently dealing with the 6 month old cav, Nova timidly checking out the biggest dog hes ever seen. Snozzy also invested a good deal of time visiting all of his humans for pats and praise. True to form, he needed a nap after such exertion, so he checked out the house, chose his preferred bed and had a nap. ---
