Doper girlies, I was poking around in the attic when I came across my Barbie doll cases. It’s been about 25 years since I oversaw the daily lives of Malibu Ken, Malibu Barbie, boobless Skipper, Ballerina Barbie, Unnamed Oversized Injun Girl, and the Sunshine Family (you just KNOW those sandal-wearing, crafts-store-owning freaks weren’t married – and HER with the BABY and all.). Unfortunately the Sunshine Family Craft Store AND their house were unloaded at a garage sale. The Barbie Friend Ship (it was an airplane; it was called a ship) also met such a fate. The Town House belonged to Pam up the street and GI Joe belonged to Larson up the street, so we’ll have to make do with my cases for housing and reach some kind of boyfriend-sharing arrangement involving Malibu Ken and Swingin’ Hippie Sunshine Man. Also, Ken and SHSM have only one outfit each. Sorry. So how about it? You guys come over and bring Barbies. Snack is dark chocolate nonpareils from Wegman’s. And because I’m stripping the paint from about 4 bazillion windows, I also can whip up some lead-chip snickerdoodles. Oh, and you have to help me clean up before you go home. ---

My Barbies all melted in a house fire when I was 17, so I’ll have to bring my Barbies virtually. ☹ I actually have a bunch of Ken clothes, so I’ll bring those. They’re all from the 70s, with wide lapels on the jackets, but the 70s are back in fashion, right? I have 12 “real” Barbies, plus 2 knock-off Barbies, 1 Skipper, 4 Kens, 2 Geronimo dolls which are kinda tall and can date Unnamed Oversized Injun Girl. One of the Kens has “real” nylon hair like Barbie, instead of just painted on. It’s kinda long. Again, it was from the 70s. He also comes with stick-on facial hair. His name is Steve. Four of my Barbies are lesbians, though, so they don’t need Kens. And I have Lone Ranger & Tonto dolls that are the perfect size to date the Skippers. I don’t have a house, but I do have a ton of carpet remnants that we would lay out all over the dining room to make a bitchin’ huge 1-story mansion. We were a bit short on furniture but had a cool bathroom & kitchen set. We mostly played “Ski Lodge” which was quite to soap opera withe veryone sleeping with everyone else. I think that’s how we ended up with lesbian barbies. ---

Oh, and half of my furniture is Cindy furniture, so it’s too small for the Barbies. My grandmother never could keep them straight and was always giving us Cindy stuff. ---

Are physically challenged Barbies welcome? The arms fell off my last one. She is the cool kind with wires in her hair so it can be curled. I don’t think she can work the curlers anymore though. ---

Oooh, I’ll bring my Beach Girl Barbie! I cut off her hair into a buzz cut one day on a whimsy so Motorgirl’s lesbians will have a butch to hang out with! Cool! Oh, and Beach Girl Barbie is always picking catfights with Peaches and Cream Barbie, so we’ll have to keep an eye on them. I never had a Ken ☹ I think Mom (formerly ardent Southern Baptist) was afraid Peaches and Cream and Ken might want to get it on by the Barbie sized swimming pool I owned. ---

I took my PS2 apart and swabbed the lense with some alcohol and slapped it back together. [Here’s a guide](http://www.ultimateconsoleguides.com/playstation_2.htm) that’s a little more technical if you think yours is still worth salvaging. I do still have all my Barbies (most sans hair, one all black due to an attempt to make a Drow) in a box at the top of my closet. I actually took them out and had a little fashion show a couple of years back. 🙂 ---

One year for Christmas I asked for the Barbie Dream House - and my loving parents got it for me. My dad was up all night putting it together - and I guess he wasn’t too quiet about the work that went into it. Well, a few months later I got angry - and threw a tantrum. Part of that tantrum was going into my room - and tearing apart the Barbie Dream House. My sister was so afraid that my dad would kill me, that she tried to put it back together! Susan ---

I think I have an Indian Barbie still… she’s missing her moccassins and purse though. Totally Hair Barbie and Ken are always in need of new do’s… just need some gel for Ken, and we can braid Barbie’s hair then our own… Western Barbie has a horse and a jeep/trailer to drive the horse around… somewhere… Dangit where the heck is that pink suitcase? All my Barbies are there… (real and fake ones, I think Joe and Danny from NKOTB are there too) ---

I still play Barbies. I have three nieces aged 9, 8, and 6 and a five year old girl. We have Barbie parties and play all night. One thing I did notice, and I pettily attribute this to their cold, heartless mother, my ex sister in law, is that they dont use very much imagination play with their dolls. They dont use their dolls like little characters. For example, we made a highrise apartment complex with a book case and instead of knocking when they came over, they just walked right in! Ok, now maybe Im pushing it, since they hadnt played that way too much before but I had the youngest one arrested for breaking and entering and made her sisters bail her out! :wally I love Barbies! ---

We had a couple of Malibu Barbies, a couple of Beauty Secrets Barbies with hair down to their butts, a la Crystal Gayle, a Hawaiian Barbie with purple eyes, and some others that I don’t remember what their theme was. This is the best Barbie party ever! ---

I still have some of the original Barbie dresses, c1960: the wedding gown, the pink satin gown, the gold-lame cocktail dress, the blue-patterned picnic dress. All better made than _real-people_ clothes are today! Anybody remember Tressie, early '60s? Her hair “grew.” She had a ponytail that you would make “grow” by pushing a button in her stomach and pulling on her hair. Then you’d shorten her hair again by stabbing her in the back with a key and winding it. It was all very S&M, and made me feel terribly scared for my mother when she went to the hairdresser’s. ---

**Eve** , I have all those great clothes from the '60s, too. I inherited my Barbies from my cousins. The craftsmanship that went in to the clothing is exquisite. I must have a dozen swank cocktail numbers. ---
