FOX News had the following headline yesterday:

[Impeached President Says Global Warming Deniers Embarrass America](http://i.imgur.com/xyNWn.png)

The link above is to a screen shot of the headline. I offer that because I have no interest in driving traffic to FOX’s website. However, in case you think it is a Photoshop\* job here is the link to the [actual article on FOX](http://nation.foxnews.com/bill-clinton/2011/09/20/impeached-president-says-global-warming-deniers-embarrass-america).

But wait! It gets better!

The article was not written by FOX staff. Instead they are reprinting part of the article titled [Bill Clinton scorches GOP field on climate change](http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0911/63942.html) posted at Politico. They just changed the headline.

I would expect such crap from the likes of World News Daily or Matt Drudge but as partisan as FOX is I would not expect this even from them. I sorta hoped there was still some teeny bit of journalistic integrity at a national news organization.

Sign of the Apocalypse I guess. Fuck you FOX.

- If you want a Photoshopped version I rather like this one: [http://i.imgur.com/qfukh.jpg](http://i.imgur.com/qfukh.jpg) 😃

I’m not surprised. These fuckers would run a headline that read “Obama sleeping with black chick,” if they thought they could get some mileage out of it.

That’s a really good example of media bias. In fact, it’s so good it’s almost a parody of itself.

The headline is, of course, completely true. Clinton was impeached. And he did say, in effect, that global warming deniers embarrass America.

But since there’s essentially zero relevance to the fact that he was impeached, the editiorial choice to include that line can only be an effort to invite the reader to question or dismiss Clinton’s commentary, for reasons having no relation to the merits of his commentary.

Oh please; typical libtard overreaction. Do you get into the same sorts of tiffs when your precious Jon Stewart uses a punnish or contorted-for-humor headline when announcing a story? Of course not. Don’t you see? Look at the URL (which, I noticed, the OP sneakily tried to bury in his post). It’s not Fox _News_, it’s actually Fox _Nation_. If you’re too quick to condem Fox news, a hard, fast, and santorum-filled **news** network for something posted on nation.foxnews, a fair and balanced _opinion and commentary_ outlet, than you have no integrity whatsoever. The point has been made over and over. Some commentators on Fox have right-wing viewpoints (and some, such as the Simpsons, have left-wing views, but you don’t hear the left admitting that, do you?). But Fox maintains a Chinese wall between the two–_they have nothing to do with each other_.

Is this a joke? I really can’t tell. [Poe’s Law](http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Poe%27s_Law) applies here.

Jon Stewart hosts a _comedy_ show on Comedy Central. The Simpsons is a comedy show. I’m surprised you didn’t include The Onion in your list. That you seem unable to discern the important differences there says a lot about you and none of it good.

As for Chinese Walls and having “nothing to do with each other” the site I linked to has the FOX logo large and clear in the upper left, it has links to FOX News, FOX Business, FOX News Radio, FOX News Latino and FOX News Insider across the top.

In addition the bottom of the page says, “_This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed. ©2011 FOX News Network, LLC. All rights reserved_.” Not News Corp. Not some other subdivision of FOX. The Simpsons website does not list FOX News as owning the copyright but FOX.

Hardly the wall you claim.

Poe’s Law shmoes law. What another knee-jerk, Ayer’s-like response; attack the messenger with irrelevancies and _ad hominims_. You should be able to tell from the seventy-second word just how serious I was (unless your socialist-inspired publiK education doesn’t allow you to count that high).

Maybe it’s one of those paper walls like the samarai and shoguns used. Or is that more Japan. . .

Looking at the “Fox Nation” page, I see this banner on the right hand side:

> [@](#):
>
> The Fox Nation is for those opposed to intolerance, excessive government control of our lives, and attempts to monopolize opinion or suppress freedom of thought, expression, and worship.

It leaves me with the impression that this some kind of editorial page, not “hard news” page.

So they cut and paste an opinion piece from another web site (and they credit the other site as the source).

It is an editorial page set up to cater to a target political demographic. All I can go is “meh”.

Yeah, Nation appears to be incredibly sensationalist. I don’t know if it’s volunteer-run or if Fox actually controls it, but they love to repost news stories and give them outrageously misleading headlines.

As harmful as I think Fox in general is, it’s been pretty much a given the last few months that if someone gets riled over an objectionable headline, it’s going to be from Nation, not Fox News itself.

While I find the headline reprehensible, I’m in no way surprised.

I am reminded however, of what a high school teacher of mine taught us about spin:

During the Soviet era, Pravda might report the results of a race between a Russian horse and and American horse thusly:

Russian horse comes in second, American horse comes in next to last.

I seem to recall plenty of news articles years and even decades after the fact referring to “Disgraced former president Richard Nixon.” I’d bet none of you guys see any editorial problem with that.
