From what testing Iā€™ve done, Discourse supports both vBulletin-style tags and their own style. For instance, you can **bold** something by typing either [noparse] **bold** [/noparse] or _bold_. The new format might be a bit easier to use, but if (like me) youā€™re used to the old format and donā€™t want to change, you can do that, too. ---

Oh, and strictly speaking, it is one of the rules of the board that members keep their e-mail addresses up-to-date at all times. So if you donā€™t have a current e-mail in there, thatā€™s on you. Obviously we donā€™t always enforce this, but it does decrease my sympathy for those who will get locked out. ---

You donā€™t have to change your password. You can leave those fields blank, although you will have to fill out the ā€œEnter your present password to continue:ā€ field at the top. ---

Iā€™m glad this is happening and to be honest, I wasnā€™t expecting anything for months more, so this is relatively quick. The 502/504 errors have been really annoying so Iā€™ll be glad to be rid of them. ---

Thatā€™s very good news. Iā€™m always the one to defend this board against all naysayers, but the functionality of this site really got worse and worse over the last months. And Iā€™m glad that the powers that be are still willing to invest in this board, which gives me warm snuggly feelings. One caveat: Iā€™m an IT guy, and I know how painful these transformations can be. There ARE times when almost everything goes smoothly, but generally you have to follow Murphyā€™s law, so not everything will work right from day one. There a gazillion things to consider in such an action, so dopers, be prepared that the board will act a bit wonky after the migration, and be patient. Itā€™ll work all out in the end, Iā€™m sure of that because I trust the staff. ---
