Thanks,\*\* supervenusfreak\*\* for the answer. Seems stupid to me that once they got past the joke that they wouldn’t actually say who they were. Surely I’m not the only person who would not know.
It’s all part of the Academy’s recruitment drive for the younger folks. Honestly, if I saw Seth or Jonas on my lawn, I’d call the cops… 😃 Go Ellen Page! ---

And it’s Marion Cottilard at 2/1. Only one award has gone to the favorite so far. ---

Now I want to see that Julie Christie movie, but I didn’t catch the name. I love Laura Linney, too. Like the Best Actress Award winner. So sweet and excited! Rat was a good movie, but not Oscar quality, IMO. (not that animated features can’t or shouldn’t win–I’m not saying that) ---
I agree on the first sentence and I have to disagree on the second. My kids, my wife and I all really enjoyed Ratatouille. I thought it was remarkable how many great movies Brad Bird has made now. Jim
It was fine, but it was not better than _Persepolis_. Grumble. The Actress award came as a surprise. To me, anyway. ---
Now I want to see that Julie Christie movie, but I didn’t catch the name.
The movie is Away From Her. The movie was directed by Sarah Polley. She also wrote the screenplay adapting it from work by Alice Munro, and was nominated for doing so. ---

I like this song best of all of them. No idea what it’s from. I have seen almost none of these films–most of them are too violent for me. (I’m a wuss) ---

“There are angels in this city.” That was nice. This song has to win. ETA: From “Once.” Kind of a musical, where the actors wrote their own songs. ---

God, I just love Jack Nicholson. I could listen to him talk all day! If he isn’t a classic old-Hollywood movie star, I don’t know what is. ::Gush:: 🙂 [Previous page](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/its-the-80th-annual-academy-awards-thread/439026.md?page=4) [Next page](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/its-the-80th-annual-academy-awards-thread/439026.md?page=6)
