That’s so cool that she got to come back for a thank-you. I’ve never seen that happen. I think the song won in part as a way of rewarding the movie as a whole. ---

It’s a shame that The Diving Bell and the Butterfly got shut out. I gonna go ahead and declare Schnabel isn’t going to get Best Director. It was an amazing movie. ---

Am I a bad person for not knowing who most of these people are and for still being mad at Valenti even now that he’s dead? ---

Hey, it’s “Bring Out Your Dead!” We didn’t lose a lot of actual actors this year, did we? At least they’ve muted the applause somewhat from the live audience. They should cut it out altogether–it becomes the world’s least tasteful popularity meter. ---

Did Altman get a mention (I had to leave the room). I loathe Jack Valenti–he’s done a ton of damage to creativity (he and Sonny Bono and others). ---

Yeah, the images and names go by so fast during the Tribute – but some stand out. Would that any of us could merit a two-second image during a national telecast! ---

Worst. Dead roll. Ever. The two biggest names were Heath Ledger and Ingmar Bergman (the latter of which is a truly giant loss). Didn’t anybody famous die last year? I’m surprised they didn’t openly boo Jack Valenti. He wasn’t exactly beloved in that town. ---
