Life is returning to what we laughingly call “normal” around here. Allie’s spending more time than usual IN the bed, Buddy’s hanging out on the headboard a lot more that he did before last week. They now own a new litterbox with higher sides. Hopefully, this will better confine the fallout when they try to mine through the box bottom. At least they’re better about burials than Little Miss was, and aren’t producing quite such toxic output. When the box arrived, it turns out to be smaller than the previous one. Hope Buddy’s chunky butt can fit in there. 🙂 ---

I wonder if they’re thinking “well we dodged being replaced that time … but what about the next?” on my past couple of 0weeks look at any of my myrad "xmas is a pin in the ass here " threads … its the same as usual just add (aunt’s gentleman caller drama in for bonus points Although one cousin wont be here this year … yays! and the other one could just sent the kid over with his brother and id be totally happy I wonder if the add on relatives are coming or going to skip too ---

Howdy Y’all! Home from men’s night over to the church house. As usual, a good time was had by all and we solved all the world’s problems. Of course, no one will listen to us, so the world remains a mess for yet another month. We picked up the beast tenderloin for the Christmas feast today. I’m sure it will be alright in the fridge until then, right? It’s a beautiful and expensive hunk o’ beast. Rain is allegedly comin’ in in a while, so glad to be inside and dry. Chillage now ensues. **GodBod** we did not have such things as pj day in the way back days when we all lived in caves. Like **MOOOOOOM** says, girls were not allowed to wear pants and noone was allowed to wear jeans until my junior year of high skool. I’m going to melt the butter, and mix in some taco sauce, and taco seasonings. Then, mix it up with the Chex cereal, pretzels, Cheddar Goldfish crackers, Cheerios, Nacho Bugles, and nuts. I’m hoping that, if I stay on top of things, and stir it often, the sauce won’t burn. It’ll be an adventure. I’ve wondered about using cheese powder to make my cheese version with a mixture of munchies that suits me better that the pre-made (not a huge fan of the wheat Chex or the croutony objects used in that mix). ---

I have arthritis in my hands and my knuckles are swelling. A few months ago, I had to take my wedding band off. This distressed me so I was planning on taking it to the best jeweler in the county, but they were all the way up there in Prescott (Christmas capital of the universe and tourist attraction), across the street from the courthouse (The lighting of the courthouse and square is an annual Christmas tradition). Not being able to wear that ring didn’t distress me enough to fight the traffic for just that so I put another ring on and figured I’d take it to the jeweler next time we were up there. A couple of weeks ago, Mom and I were playing tourist, so we went to the courthouse square and had lunch. I dropped my ring off then and was told they would have it ready on 12/27. (The ring is made of platinum so I wouldn’t flatten it like I do with gold and silver rings, and has stones around the band. This makes it a little trickier to resize, so a month during one of the big jewelry buying holidays was not unexpected.) Today I got the call that my ring was ready. A week before Christmas when the town is overrun with tourists taking all the very limited parking and are meandering down the narrow sidewalks in big package laden groups. I’ll be picking my ring up the week after Christmas, thank you very much! I hung our tree on the wall and before I had even gotten the lights out of the box, GG had tried to climb the tree which broke the hanger pole. Not being motivated to make a special trip into town just to buy a piece of dowel, the tree got rolled up and put back in the box. The box will be left out until we replace the dowel with a fucking broomstick or something studier cause I just know the little jerkface will try to climb it again next year. We have always had cats. Cats and Christmas trees are often a bad combination, so about 35 years ago, I sewed fabric together to make a life sized Christmas tree wall hanging and used a half inch dowel for the hanger. I can put lights and decorations on it, but until this year no cat has ever knocked our tree over. Bah humbug! **Flyboy** I am also hoping that your lip recovers soonist. I understand that numbness is one of reason lepers loose their limbs…they don’t feel their extremities so don’t know if they have damaged themselves and can’t feel the resulting infection when wounds go untreated. **shoe** , congrats on the new sink tap. Good tools make such a difference, a new sink tap might actually make you consider enjoying washing your dishes. Hubs and I pre-ordered Diablo 4 and one of the special gifts was some bling for our Diablo Immortal accounts. BG for those living under rocks, LOL: Diablo is one of the most successful online computer games made. It came out in the late 90’s and is still going strong. It is the only MMP I play. We buy the upgrades and new games when they come out, which isn’t that often. Diablo Immortal supposedly is the beta version of Diablo 4 so it makes sense that the bling we get for the beta version would work on the finished product. Anyhow, hubs, who is the serious gamer in the house just could not figure out how to get his bling. I tried to tell him where to go and ended up having to stand behind him and telling which buttons to push. A couple of days ago, I was wrapping presents and put a sticky bow on his head because he was being such a pain. That was another “Honey, I broke the cat!” moments. GG knew there was something on his head, but he couldn’t see it and just couldn’t figure out what he should do…most cats would shake their head or paw at it, but GG isn’t most cats. His poor little brain cell just locked up in confusion and he froze into place until the thud of me hitting the floor laughing was enough to alert hubs that GG needed saving from the evil old woman he has to live with. Drive carefully and enjoy your Christmas. Did you tell them you wanted a puppy for Christmas? ---

A special Christmas _“thank you!”_ to our lovely **Boo** for her suggestion to use shears to snip the old, non-worky lights off my little tree. Finally got to it today (it’s 2 in the morning, what even is a “today” anymore) but what would likely have been a drawn-out and messy process was quick’n’easy thanks to a suggestion that would never have occurred to me. Now I’m basking in the glow of a candle, a lit-up old tree, and two more (cheapie dollar store) strings of colorful lights in my windows. And my phone, cuz, yanno, gotta hang wit’ my Mumpers. ---

I only put in stuff that we like. We don’t care for wheat Chex. So, I only use the corn Chex. We don’t like the rye bits that are in the original stuff, either. So, I use other stuff, instead. For the nuts, I use both peanuts, and cashews. The Bugles were a HUGE hit with the folks that like my version. As for the cheese powder, I think it’d be delicious! ---

Morning, mumpers! It’s a balmy 7c/44f with a predicted high of 8c/47f, and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Can you wear shorts today? Do whatever the fuck you want, I don’t care”, definitely no shorts for me today although I am going to brave the Great Outdoors today. I need to get some petrol, even though I don’t have much driving about to do just now, the tank is nearly at the point where the warning light’s on so I need to put a bit in. Then I have to go to the doc’s to get a document of some sort. They have an online patient access service that I was registered for but I have never been able to successfully log into it, despite confirming my details and email address with the surgery. Eventually, I gave up and asked the provider to cancel the account completely so I can set it up again from scratch. This requires me to go to the surgery with some form of photo ID, get a document and sign up again. I also have some fancy (and very expensive) eye drops from the doc at the hospital that I want to have on prescription 'cos it’s cheaper to pay just under £10 for that, instead of nearly £30 for a 10ml bottle of drops. Of course, that means I have to put proper clothes on, stop drinking tea, and get myself out of the house… ---

Good morning. Well, it’s another day. I’m up entirely too early, but, I’ve had a pot of coffee. So, there’s that. I was awake, up, and movin’, at 3:30. Good grief. I’ve been _somewhat_ productive, though. I got the laundry folded, one load ready to go into the dryer, and one load ready for the washer. I’ve also mixed up the experimental Taco flavored Chex Mix, and it’s in the oven. I’ve even put out the water bottles, for our bottled water delivery. I’m on the ball! Woohooo! It won’t last. That coffee’ll be wearing off sometime soon. I have absolutely nothing on the agenda for today, other than cleaning, making brittle, and making another batch of plain Chex Mix. Depending on my mood, anyway. I’ve got a few days to do it, so, we’ll see. We’ve got a Winter Storm Watch happening, from Thursday afternoon, through Saturday morning. They’re _still_ not giving us any snowfall amounts, since it’s still too far out. Just 55mph winds, heavy snow possible, single digit temps, and -30 windchill. I have my doubts, but, whatever. We haven’t had a proper ‘blizzard’ in these parts since '78. Time will tell. For now, currently, it’s 26F, with flurries. It’ll be getting up to 41F, later. Not too shabby for winter in Indiana. Good mornin’ y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. _YAWN_ ‘Tis 44 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 48 with rain off and on all day. We have no where we either need or want to go, so let it rain. We shall be inside and dry. One of the guys brought some tasty little meatballs made of beast and pork, wrapped in bacon (BACON! BACON! BACON!) and baked to men’s night. We kinda pigged out on ‘em as they were soooooo tasty! As a result we both brought about half our steak home. I envision thinly slicin’ the steak, sautein’ onions and peppers, and makin’ a kinda sorta Philly cheesesteak with oven baked steak fries for sup. Should be num! Other than that high sloth and general overall uselessness shall prevail. **Ace et al.** I haven’t had Chex mix in a long time. Y’all may have inspired me to experiment and find a tasty version of the stuff on which to munch. We both like it, but it’s just a thing I never think to make. **JtC** GG may be a jerkface but he is a handsome jerkface. Sorry about the tree.
