Well, I also don’t get arrested, yet have indulged in the exquisite pleasure of illicit substances many times in the past. I can say from experience you have definitely missed out. You should at least take the gold star. 😛

One thing’s for sure: should **Monty** require pain medication in the United States, he’ll have a problem getting it. Partly due to the Puritan ethic, and partly due to people like **stoid**.

I hope **stoid** is happy that people who are _dying_ have problems keeping their pain controlled due to people like her.

Because **Stoid** has the mentality of an entitled 3 year old who simply cannot see any connection between her behaviour and being denied something. If a toddler could produce cites for why Mummy _has_ to give them a biscuit, they would; as it is, **Stoid** ’s inevitable pages of references, cites, qualifications, definitions and explanations just boil down to her shouting BUT I WANT IT! This thread has gone from the proverbial sublime to the ridiculous.

Can a thread be turned into a parody AFTER the OP? 'Cos this one is a delicious example of such.

Keep going fellas…you’re entertaining me on this boring Aussie Saturday night.

Wow. You are just frustrated as hell, aren’t you?

Take some comfort in the fact that I _also_ suffer because of others abuse and misuse, which is far more egregious and rampant than my relaxed approach has ever aspired to. I have ADD and aside from the endless hoops that must be jumped through (Adderall being Schedule II and all, Costco pharmacy goes over my prescriptions with a microscope, then they check with some master list and the DEA and they track my every move when it comes to filling my prescriptions for any stimulants.) my medication simply vanishes altogether at times. The government actually rations the raw ingredients to make it and the pharmaceutical companies just can’t fill the demand. Demand which is greatly inflated by students and others not merely sharing it and selling it, but they are using it for the benefits without having any of the actual issues for which it is legitimately prescribed. (And I can already see the posts questioning the legitimacy of my diagnosis… certain things are as reliable as the sun rising and setting…)

I’m terribly, terribly sorry that I got a minor detail in a thread on the internet from three weeks ago confused with a detail in another thread by the same person. You only assembled the letter with your cites, you didn’t actually send it to the vet, so I guess you annoyed the vet a little less than I thought, certainly less than you did people in the other threads of yours. The fact that you keep nitpicking really specific details is not unexpected.

This is a psychological phenomenon called ‘projection;’ you use drugs in a casual way, and refuse to believe that people who don’t actually don’t. I’d post a link, but I expect you’ll cut and paste half a dozen copies of the definition from somewhere before it’s all over. There really are people who don’t smoke pot, and people who don’t ‘loan’ Xanax to the guy doing yard work, and who don’t bring syringes of dog ass valium to dose someone up who had a hard time.

Well, while I’m probably in the minority and will certainly get flak for saying this, I am pretty skeptical as to the legitimacy of the ADD/ADHD “condition”, period. It’s a “disease” that apparently never existed for millions of years of human history, and still only exists mostly in developed wealthy countries that can afford designer pharmaceutical speed to “treat” it, conveniently. Which of course has made Big Pharma billions of bucks since it became a major pop culture fad to have ADHD.

I’ve had Adderall and of course it helps people focus, because it’s speed. Everyone has trouble focusing on boring shit for extended periods of time, especially kids, who get prescribed it the most. You talk about there being shortages of it, but that’s probably because everyone and their mother has a 'script for it. At least when I was in school, you couldn’t spit without hitting someone who was diagnosed with ADHD and got prescription speed for it. The whole thing has always just seemed really dicey to me.

I’m inclined to agree; of the three adults I know who claim to have ADHD, two of them are just lazy selfish entitled arseholes who think that work and paying bills is for other people.

If you had one kid with ADHD and one kid without it, as I do, you would never say that. Which is not to say that it’s not over-diagnosed, and not to say that some people are medicated for it who could probably manage it in other ways…but believe me, it exists.

And, I’d posit that it always existed, but that it wasn’t as obvious until people had to sit at a desk and do boring tasks. Just because it’s harder to cope with it in the modern world, doesn’t mean that it didn’t exist in other times & places.

I’d be delighted. But take into account that there is something fundamentally flawed in my use of The Google Machine and somehow my cites all end up saying the same thing: Stoid is Stupid, Crazy and Just Plain Awful and This Proves It. I’m not really sure how it works, actually, I’m just saying you might want to do your _own_ research to completely avoid any possible Stoidal Google Cooties.

But since you asked, here’s your very own Stoidal Wall o’ Text featuring Stoidal Styling (I went with _ **Stoidal Bold-Italic** _) a combination widely recognized for the way it strips words of all meaning, making comprehension virtually impossible for normal humans, so good luck!

>
> Shire has publicly blamed DEA quota restrictions for its anemic generic shipments; the DEA has issued an apparent denial, albeit one short on specifics. A chemist at one of the five authorized “active ingredient” manufacturers in the business of supplying pharmaceutical companies with amphetamine says he and his colleagues “have all been scratching our heads trying to figure out what’s actually going on.”
>
> The prevailing “water cooler” theory, according to the chemist, is that Shire is trying to “embarrass [the generic drugmakers] by making them look unreliable” - which could theoretically threaten some of their accounts, which could also in turn hurt their case in future applications to the DEA for a share of the annual amphetamine production quota. The DEA’s decisions to award quota of controlled substances is a somewhat mysterious process, but the aggregate number of about 26 million kilograms for 2011, up from 1.3 million in 1996, the year Adderall was introduced. And even that 26 million wasn’t high enough to accommodate the applications; the chemist says the agency recently granted the generic drugmaker CorePharma, which makes generic Adderall and dexedrine, just half the amphetamine allotment for which it had applied. So it stands to reason that if the agency lowers the quota in response to lower unit sales this year, the great amphetamine famine could be here to stay. And since Shire’s own quota for Vyvanse’s lisdexamphetamine is 9 million kilograms - hugely generous for such a new drug - it is more than prepared to accommodate a surge in new customers.

> When Congress passed the CSA, the quota system was intended to reduce or eliminate diversion from “legitimate channels of trade” by _**controlling “the quantities of the basic ingredients needed for the manufacture of [controlled substances],**_ and the requirement of order forms for all transfers of these drugs . . .” 1970 U.S.C.C.A.N. 4566 at 4590. The quota system generally requires DEA to determine the amount of each basic class of Schedule I and II controlled substances, ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, and phenylpropanolamine to be manufactured each year “to provide for the estimated medical, scientific, research, and industrial needs of the United States, for lawful export requirements, and for the establishment and maintenance of reserve stocks.” 21 U.S.C. § 826(a). This essentially allows DEA to monitor the total amount of Schedule I and II controlled substances, ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, and phenylpropanolamine that enters the closed system of distribution.
>
> DEA’s quota system for the basic classes of controlled substances consists of three types of quota summarized below: Aggregate Production Quota (APQ), Individual Manufacturing Quota, and Procurement Quota.
>
> **Aggregate Production Quota:** The Administrator determines the total amount of each basic class of Schedule I and II controlled substance necessary to be manufactured in a calendar year to provide for the estimated medical, scientific, research, and industrial need of the United States, for lawful export requirements, and for the establishment and maintenance of reserve stocks.
>
> **Individual Manufacturing Quota:** Amount of a basic class allocated to registered bulk manufacturers in order to manufacture the substance by producing, preparing, propagating, compounding, or processing it from another substance.
>
> \*\*Procurement Quota: \*\*Issued to registered manufacturers who desire to obtain any Schedule I and/or II basic class of controlled substances in order to further manufacture that substance by packaging, repackaging, labeling, relabeling, or producing dosage forms or other substances.

> Control Quotas
>
> One of the ways DEA works to keep scheduled drugs under control is by establishing quotas on their production. Under the CSA, DEA controls the production of schedule I and II drugs, including for research purposes.
>
> These quotas—known as Aggregate Production Quotas (APQs), Bulk Manufacturing Quotas (BMQs) and Procurement Quotas (PQs)—determine the exact amount of each drug that is permitted to (legally) be produced in the US each year. For example, in 2015 DEA allowed 49,500,000 grams of codeine, a narcotic used in many cough suppressant products, to be manufactured.
>
> However, DEA’s APQ system has come under criticism in recent years. In 2011 and 2012, many patients with attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD) said they found it profoundly difficult to obtain FDA-approved ADHD treatments containing amphetamine salts, a DEA-controlled substance. In response to pressure from patients and legislators, DEA eventually increased its production quota on amphetamines intended for sale from 25.3 million grams per year to as much as 49 million grams per year in 2014.

All of which refers to the Controlled Substances Act of 1970, found in its entirety at this link… but thats actual law and it seems my citations to law are always wrong or I’m always wrong in how I understand them so they are no good anyway… something like that, so, again, might wanna let your fingers do their own walking, just to be safe.
