Howdy. Have shopped (only 4 items) and sammiched (Jersey Mike’s #8 Club) so the morning activities are done. Checked and recycle folks are sorry about being late, but I sent them an e-mail anyway as a reminder. Up to 74F and house is still very comfortable, so the HVAC is having a nice vacation. **rocky** , I know it’s cold around here when I get my sweatwhirt/sweatpants combination out and on me. That’s still in the future though, how far in the future is still to be determined. Enjoy the dual microwaves. **Swampy** , google says the abomination only is offered on Wednesdays at select locations as part of a ‘secret’ menu…and I guess you’d have preferred it stay secret… **JtC** , it is a slog, I know, but you are doing just as much good as you do standing outside, just in another way. You Represent and your making it possible for others to do so within the law and regulations. Drudgery, but I believe doing the drudgery is going to help get us out of this situation. And you have a fax!? **FCM** , still nothing but positive waves for Mom out of N. Ali-bama. And with the apple I haven’t eaten (but will shortly), I’m around 1,600 calories consumed halfway through the day, so looks like some gym time is in my future. Take care all. ---

Woke up to dense fog, and not just in my brain. It eventually came down to ground level and the morning commute was crawling along. It has mostly lifted at noon, but lingers at the tops of tall buildings. Made it to exercise, but it was a struggle today. Came back to the apartment and stared at my guitar (2001 Fender strat), which has gone unplayed for the past three years and finally came to the realization that I won’t be playing it again. When you age, the collagen under your skin gets thinner and thinner and the possibility of cutting a fingertip with a steel string is not a good scene. So, with much regret, I put it in its hard case, unplugged the amp, and both are now in a closet. I’ll likely offer it to my grandson, along with my tablature books. But it does make me a bit sad. ---

Happy Moanday, Mumpers! The last time I posted, things were chaotic. They’ve since elevated to the far right on the Nutsometer. Saturday night–OK, technically morning–my brother woke me up because he was in tremendous pain. I’ll spare you the details, but basically, he’d been unable to pee for almost 24 hours, even though he really had to go. I know a. ruptured bladder is a terrible thing, plus he was in agony, and he has a high pain threshold. So 911 it was. While awaiting the ambulance, I rushed to put in my contacts. When I got the left one in, it hurt like blazes. Turns out it split in two. I got half out, but the other half was wedged too high for me to get it out, and flooding it didn’t work. I’m going to start a campaign to get better shock absorbers for ambulances. The bouncing was hard on my SIL and later, on my brother. Anyway, they tested and treated the poor guy, and presto! a mere six hours later, he was improved enough to go home. Two hours in, they kindly got the half-contact out of my eye. By then I had an abrasion, so they gave me paper scrips for antibiotic drops. He’s OK now and is coping with tthe usual knee pain. My sister-in-law got released that afternoon. It was nice not having to run back and forth to the hospital, but having her here was trying at first. She ordered an Uber all by herself for the first time–Yay!–but despite the fact we told her twice I needed to physically go to their pharmacy for my paper scrips, she’d already arranged to have the Uber guy pick up and deliver her prescriptions off-Uber and told him to “just add it to the Uber bill.” After he left, I explained that she’d have to give him cash, and she panicked. Anyway, I had to go separately. She got vexed with me and snapped, “I wish you’d gotten your pills while I was ni the hospital.” I told her again that they’d just been prescribed that morning at the ER and that I hadn’t gone to get them (and hers) because I wanted to help her get from car to house. The same Uber guy took my ride but went to get her Rx first, so by the time I got to Walgreen’s, the pharmacy was getting ready to close, so I couldn’t get my eyedrops. I have some reservations about her taking over his meds (until he’s off oxy), but I have a system that should be goof-proof. I normally have a martini once a week on Sundays, but I’ve been having one every night here for medicinal and diplomatic reasons. My brother can’t drink because he’s on oxy, but I fix him a 1/2 ounce marteeny with an olive in it so he can feel like a big boy. 🙂 OK, enough ranting. **swampy** , glad your nice hubby hauled the trash cans out for you and that you’re feeling better. **BooFae** , I LOVE that the singer came over! **hippie** , sounds like a wonderful trip. Good afternoon. I logged into work this morning and immediately had fire to be put out. Fires that had been burning for years, but suddenly today are emergencies. Yesterday, the garage door opener decided to stop working, so until the repairman can come out, we’re having to open and close it old school by hand. **Squeaky** was shocked. “But if the opener isn’t working, how am I going to charge my car?” By lifting the door by hand. **Mrs Magill** got a call from the school earlier this morning. Door Dash was trying to deliver some panes of glass that had been ordered from Home Despot in her name. It wasn’t on any of our credit cards, so it’s just weird but not costly. ---

I gave up on wrangling word for the day- the table of contents is still all wonky, but I have until Firday to fix it. I am now trying to figure out what to do with the remaining quail aigs; I could only find a box of 12, and even though they’re teeny, so are the ratties, so that’s still too much aig. I’m not sure what I can do with the rest of 'em. Micro omelette? Fry 'em and pretend to be a giant? I have some teeny tiny currant tomatoes as well… ---

From what I’ve been told, county size was limited to how far one person could go (walking, riding horses and later driving cars, etc.) in one day so news could be passed when needed. WV is a small state, but it is full of steep mountains. Back when the state was being split up into counties 10 miles was a very long way. 35th! ( 🤣 ) Mondays are definitely easier to take when I’m working from home. 🙂 Today hasn’t been bad (so far!), and I even managed to finally knock out some training that was _almost_ overdue. Right now it’s 2:43pm, so I only have a couple of work hours left, and there’s enough of a lull for me to do some Doping/Mumping. After this post I’ll go down to the kitchen to take my afternoon supplements and grab my afternoon protein shake, and then I’ll face the remainder of the day. I just finished building the Lego tree house on Friday, but I miss having a set to work on. There are one or two sets I like that I _could_ get right now, but I keep reminding myself that Wallace & Gromit (and two holiday sets) will be arriving this week…and, on Sunday I can go to the Lego store and get four more new ones that haven’t been available for pre-order. I’ll start building my holiday sets in a little over a month: I don’t _really_ decorate until the day after Thanksgiving, but I have quite a lot of Christmas Lego – 15 sets/10,794 pieces (so far) – and it will take a few weekends! I _really_ hope there’s never a power failure here when I need to get out! Easier manual egress is on my list of things to maybe look into closer to the end of my two-year lease, if I decide to stay here. ---

I told her I won’t be able to walk Max when I get back because I’ll be dog-sitting. She said she’ll hire a dog walker. I haven’t charged her in months because she’s so poor (but spends money like she’s rich), and when I WAS charging her, it was half my usual rate. **FCD** picked out a few of his mother’s things to give to his aunt. He’s still having a hard time dealing with losing his parents. I don’t understand it, but we deal with death in our own ways. Apart from rollsuck and loading the dishwasher, it’s been a wasted day for me. Well, not wasted, just top level RDOS. We should create a scale assigning values to levels of RDOS. Maybe tomorrow… 😉 🤣 ---

Got my flu jab today. Last night Ariel had another episode of choke so the vet came out last night. Stuck a tube down her nose and pumped fluids and electrolytes into her. Then she got a BA antibiotic shot. This afternoon she trotted into the Barn all sassy and happy and not caring about my worry. And she got all huffy about me putting some ointment on an owie. Tonight’s dinner is Stouffer’s lasagna cause I don’t feel like cooking. Paterson’s shortbread is superior to Walker’s but I don’t know if it’s available in the US of A. Lorna Doones are a righteous cookie in and of themselves.
