A recycled thought from the last dope - I tried to get a dinner at a pizza joint going for Saturday early evening, but it never materialized. Maybe a Giordano’s or Leona’s or Edwardo’s could accomodate a giant doper group for dinnner? Just a thought… ---

Hiya Porc! I just sent an e-mail to Hamlet about potential spots…I’ll look into the pizza thing too. There is the Leona’s in Wicker Park that’s not far from the blue line, and there’s a Leona’s in the Irving Park area that’s also close to the Irving Park stop. I’ll think on it. Thanks! ---

Point the First: I want to be part of a “splinter group”. It just sounds so rebellious. Point the Second: Would like to second the Pizza thing. Last time a couple of us out of towners were looking for authentic, Chicago pizza and just didn’t have a clue. If it’s family friendly and doesn’t bother anyone I’ll bring my brood along. Point the Third: Hi **Opal**! And I should also say, as weird as it sounds, I’m looking forward to meeting **Hamlet** (the eloquent one) _almost_ as much as seeing **Gundy** (the beautiful one) again. ---

As long as they have a bar, I doubt anyone will complain. And I suspect a lot of the pizza joints have private rooms we could get. Also, pizza’s one of the cheapest meals in town, which I suspect will appeal to our more budget-conscious dopers. [aside]I was born and raised in Chicago, and it’s funny - my favorite pizza is thin crust (Aurelios’s specifically, which is a mostly south suburban chain). I like Uno’s, Giordano’s, Nancy’s, Edwardo’s, etc, but it’s not my favorite[/aside]. **Superdude** , if **Euty** promises not to slip **Zotti** some tongue, he might get away unmolested. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing, though. ---

My favorite is Marie’s – not a chain, but a grubby liquor store/restaurant on the northwest side in the finest of low-lit, vinyl-upholstered booth traditions. The pizza there is super-thin crust with a very flavorful sauce. Before you know it, you’ve eaten ten pieces. It’s wonderful…sigh. So I’m with you on that. Well, that was pointless! ---

You know, I also have a great personality. And, as far as pizza goes, I’m kinda assuming that the non-Chicago Dopers would like some real Chicago pizza, that being the thick stuffed pizzas. Pizzaria Uno and Due, Edwardos, Gino’s and Giordanos are probably the best known for that kind of pizza. Gino’s and Uno’s are located right around N. Mich. Avenue, but we’d need an accurate headcount for reservations and a private room. It’s been awhile, but I’m pretty sure they serve beer there too. Whichever we decide, I would suggest a pizza place, and then a bar that is within walking distance. I can check out some places around pizza places and maybe we can find something. ---

For me personally, I’d like a bit of lag time between pizza and drinkin’, so I can drop off my son, freshen up and whatnot. So, selfishly speaking, I’d like to have pizza sometime mid-afternoon.
