I’m glad it stayed put overnight (it’s not a crime-ridden neighborhood, but anything with a visible “Amazon” logo is a temptation). And at the risk of sounding like the rest isn’t appreciated — it is — the painting is definitely the _pièce de résistance_. The fact that the purchase assists wildlife preservation only makes it better. ---

Youse guys are making me feel really inadequate and cheap. In my pathetic defence I can only claim that international postage is expensive and it is prohibited by US Customs to send alcohol by mail into the USA. [small print] Note to self. “Must do better” [/small print] ---

So sorry for my tardiness. My box has been packaged for some time now, but the rates at FedEx and UPS were outrageous. Will be getting to the Postal Service ASAP to get the package on its way! I hope the accoutrements make up for the delay. I’ll send the recipient the tracking info as soon as I have it. I did receive the most delightful parcel from @Ambro ! Not only was there a super cool shot glass from Oregon, there was a miniature measuring cup, a nifty little bottle with a cork in it, two postcards of Oregon, and some Halloween swag! Plus, they’re from Australia, the very first country that I put on my bucket list with 3 glasses specifically from Sydney, one of which features the Sydney Opera House, a place that is specifically on my bucket list. Tadah! A verifiable cornucopia of goodies have duly arrived in Sydney having tracked it’s transcontinental transit from Memphis to Miami to LA to Tokyo and Sydney. Selected and packed with care from a guy who looks to be very proud of his home town, if not spruiking for a job with the tourism board of Memphis. A postcard from the National Civil Rights Museum. A fridge magnet Some reading matter on the weird and obscure aspects of Memphis. Some BBQ sauce. Some Rendezvous seasoning which will likely form the basis of my next dry rub roast. Just to close off the exchange with mine (intercontinental) host @feppytweed Australian cuisine is many things and BBQ is definitely one but ribs much less so. However we dabble and try to make good in the spirit of this exchange. Started with a couple of “American style” pork rib racks liberally laced with Memphis Original Charlie Vergos “Rendezvous” seasoning in a very slow oven for 8 hours, the last with generous lashing of Central BBQ sauce. Consumed _al fresco_ at the end of a 34C day by the males of the family washed down with James Squire Golden Ale. Bloody good stuff. Thank you. Regards, PT . ---
