It's weird but John Wayne's World it ain't

YOU, of all people Bill, telling ME, to ignore reality?

MAHAHAHAHAHA…thanks, I DO feel better now.

Geez, I know the world’s been turned on it’s head but the prospect of Bill and Guin ‘comforting’ each other is still a little out of my frame of reference. Simmer down there, folks

Bill – yes it’s very much in the news, still. You’ll see on your teevee on Thursday / Friday what Tony Blair has to say about it all as he visits NYC and then DC for a ‘War Council’ with Bush.

Dropzone – Mr Coldfire and I are friends. He was just making a matey comment.

Thanks again.

I just can’t let this pass:

For the love of whatever diety you hold dear, Bill, don’t you watch the news, read the paper, look at news on the internet? The whole world is talking about very little else! We’re teetering on the brink of WWIII and you are so uninformed that you have to ask that question?

Although maybe I’m jumping the gun - how old are you, Bill? If you’re 16 or younger, I’ll cut you some slack . . . otherwise, there is no excuse.

Hie thyself to some international news websites and learn what’s going on! Try this one, for starters: Reuters Online

Also this one: http://www.ananova.com/

You can follow links from those sites to others.

Yes, I know that. C’mon, how dumb do you think I am? (Please don’t answer that! At least he didn’t offer you any raw fish.)

Next time you’re in Chicago I’ll buy you a decent Chicago beer, if I can find one. And I WON’T buy you a Guinness. Had my first one that wasn’t skunky (it doesn’t travel well) at the last Fest and it was served at a temperature in the 30s F. Bloody awful, it was.

But I am in total agreement with your OP. Maybe I’ll start a brainstorming thread in GD now that tempers have cooled some.

I was asking if it just dominates the news or is just the top story. The only other news I hear about is the stock market. I was just asking that.

Please? I sure would like to hear some discussion of what we do now, instead of the horrible blame-slinging that seems to be popular.

I’ve got tons of questions that are probably very naive. IS a military response by the US totally unappropriate? But if so, how else are we supposed to respond? Are we supposed to just let what happened slide? Can we, given the outrage in this country, even if that is the wisest course? Or will that cause our own internal rebellion of some kind? What options do we have? etc., etc., etc.

Sorry for running on, but I’m confused and frightened - too much imagination, I guess. But I’d like to form some kind of opinion based on reasonable and rational ideas. Damn hard to live in the USA and not react emotionally, and just my gut instinct tells me this is a bad, bad idea.

Hell, my emotional reaction is to replace most of the Middle East with a huge DisneyWorld, flanked by MickeyDs and WallyWorld Supercenters.

In answer to dropzone: sure, our beers aren’t bad at all. We’re especially good at pilsners. But when it comes to quality beers of the stronger kind, I’ll take a Belgian beer or the Irish black stuff over a Dutch one anyday (I have no idea how well a Guinness can be had in the US. Guess I’ll find out next month).

Besides, I was trying to THANK mr Calling, something that is not accomplished by pouring large quantities of Heineken down his throat. A beer, incidentely, that nobody in the world needs to travel to another country for. It’s more succesful than any other religion.

(And no, I don’t consider Heineken to be a particularly good beer.)

So, what was this thread about again?

Sheeeeeeeeeee-aaaaaaaaat, y’all want good beer, come to UTAH! I’ll show you some good beer!
