Aside from the fact that I can purchase alcohol legally in my province now, this pretty much blows. This is the fourth year in a row I’ve sat in my room and cried on my birthday. How silly was it of me to expect it to be different this year? Because all the past years, when no one cared, I thought this year, at least one friend cared enough to tell me that she’s taking me out tomorrow night so I wouldn’t sit home and cry. Then, after getting my hopes up, she told me she has a family dinner. I honestly understand family obligations, but I still think it’s pretty shitty she didn’t think it was important enough to double check that before getting my hopes up. Thank og I only have one more year of this teen angst left right? :rolleyes: ☹ ---

Aww, 7, I’m sorry you’re having a bad day. I feel your pain. This year my mom took the dogs to the pound and lied, saying they’d run away, on my birthday. :rolleyes: Maybe it’s just because I’m a natural loner, but whenever a friend blows me off, I go out by myself anyway. I always end up feeling better than if I’d sat at home brooding, but that’s me. I hope your day gets better in any case. Enjoy your last teenage year (though I’m 22 and still feel like I’m 14 😉 ) ---

Don’t feel so bad. I spent birthday #18 (when I was legally allowed to buy alcohol, etc… ) seeing a movie by myself, because the rest of my friends forgot about me, or had tix to see Rush. It gets better. ---

I feel your pain. When I turned 19 (7 months ago), it was the first year I didn’t bother attempting to celebrate, and it was nice not to be let down when no one could/would come. Ugh, that sounds so pathetic, but between my utter lack of local friends, and the ones I have having no independant means of transportation or being underaged, it’s just the way things were. (I know my university friends would have taken me out, but my birthday was two weeks after res closed for the year. Ack!) I did have one friend who was going to take me out, but we never managed it. She couldn’t find us a ride, and I wasn’t driving–that would defeat the purpose of taking me out to drink. What province do you live in, anyways? ---

Now, you have two choices-1) Stay home and brood, and we know how happy that’s making you so far 2) Do something to take your mind off your misery. Like go out and get smashed…Joking! But seriously, stop thinking about it, it’ll just make you feel worse. If I was nearby I’d take you out myself. But I can’t. So, find something you enjoy, and do it. The last thing you should be doing is brooding on your birthday. ---

Last time I took a friend out for his birthday, he almost got stabbed, we almost got arrested twice, and he figured I was his best friend ever so he hung out with me so much I got sick of seeing his face, and eventually he rewarded me by spilling tea, Pepsi and bongwater all over my dad’s house in one night, sitting there watching while I cleaned it up. Later, he borrowed a sweater from me. By the time I got it back a few days later, he had used it as a cumrag. Multiple times. Without cleaning it. And then, on the same night I got my sweater back, he spilled Domino’s CinnaStix icing all over my backpack. So it looks like he came all over that too. And he sat there and watched while I cleaned it up. Needless to say, I try to avoid said friend these days. ---

Oh, BTW, the reason he had almost gotten stabbed was because he started a fight with three gangbangers, at a party I went out of my way to take him to, and I looked like an arse for bringing him. Oh, and I was getting pretty far with a really hot girl when he started the fight and all the commotion in the house forced us to part ways. ---

Thanks for the happy birthdays. I could have spent tonight with my family, but I had asked them to take me out for the traditional birthday dinner last night because I’d thought I’d be doing something tonight. :smack: They’re not going to take me out again. I think the only thing I’d be comfortable doing alone is going to a movie tonight. The liquor stores are closed today though. :smack: ---
