I’m 23 weeks pregnant, as of today. This is my first pregnancy. I thought I might have been feeling the baby moving last week, but it was very intermittent and I wasn’t sure. This weekend, I felt it more, and now I’m pretty sure that what I’m feeling is the baby moving. I’m so excited! I seem to feel it most when I’m sitting slightly reclined in a desk chair. I thought I would be more likely to feel it when I was lying on my left side, but that doesn’t seem to be the case for me. I think she (we know the baby is a girl) kicked me in the bladder last night. I felt one of those movements in the vicinity of my bladder, followed by a strong urge to pee. I told her father to tell her that kicking people in the bladder is not acceptable behavior. I’m not really upset at her, though, because I know there’s not that much room to move around in there without kicking something. ---

It’s fab, isn’t it? Towards the end of my pregnancy she had a favourite spot to poke her foot into, just under my rib cage. I adore my baby girl, but I kind of miss my wriggly, squirmy baby bump. ---

Oh, it’s so exciting, isn’t it! I’m 38 weeks and movement is old news but mine’s been having hiccups for the first time in the last week and it makes me melt. And she totally has a favorite place to kick, and her little foot pokes out my side. I love that little foot. ---

Isn’t that just the coolest sensation ever? I loved those first weeks when I could feel the baby move, like a little fish swimming in there. The whole second trimester was full of win. No more fatigue, fewer mood swings, I felt like I was bursting with life, and the discomforts of the third trimester were far away. Enjoy! ---

Oh, isn’t it just amazing? I love having my daughters here, but I do miss that part. For me it’s the concrete evidence that you’re making a real person - you, all by yourself. (Well, ok, you had help at first, but still…). Thre’s something powerful, almost primal about it. You have a relationship with your child before anyone else in the world does, it’s wonderful. Revel in it! ---

I found the movement kind of cool (and different between my 2 pregnancies, each baby moved distinctly differently), but I was completely fascinated by the movement you could see. Towards the end of my first pregnancy I got these great big sea swells across my belly as she turned, which I was worried would distract anyone I was in meetings with. Luckily #2 was content to just kick me repeatedly in the ribs when she stretched. ---

I remember that time - or, at least, remember my wife telling me about it. A word of warning, though: our little girl (eight months old today!) arrived at 30 weeks. Whatever you need to get organised before the birth, do it sooner rather than later! 🙂 ---

When I was preggers with Slim, I think I started feeling him “flutter” around that time. We were still adjusting to the fact that holy crappin Jesus, we were actually going to have a baby and feeling him flutter around in there made it more real. Slim was the kind of fetus who NEVER STOPPED MOVING. Like…ever. I wonder if his constant motion in utero was kind of like a sign that he would have ADHD? IDK. But that’s the way he was. NEVER STOPPED MOVING. When we went in for the second songoram at around 20 wks or so, he was bouncing around so much the sonogram tech got annoyed because it was hard to see what she needed to see. ---

Oh yeah, **SticksAndString** , that’s familiar. We had the same issue with my younger daughter - at every scan (4 due to my health issues) we were sent out by the sonographer to walk her to calm before we tried again to get a picture. She hasn’t really stopped moving since - this is the baby who rolled from her back to her side at four days old. (Does it still count as sneak bragging if it’s true?) ---

I know this sounds like one of those annoying things old parents tell new parents, but savor it. It’s so fun right now, sit with that and just watch and feel. When she really gets going, she’ll be able to knock a glass of water off your belly. And tell us when she gets hiccups! I’d stand with my belly just so, partially under the stream, and then watch my belly move and bulge to get as much of himself under the stream as possible! As soon as I read the first sentence in the OP, I thought, “Oh, 6 more days and that’s when my girl was born!” But I’m sure Anne’s daughter is going to be much more polite than WhyBaby was, and wait patiently a while longer yet! ---

Once while I was pregnant there was an extremely loud crack of thunder. My baby was under my rib cage but when the big boom came, he dove down sharply. “That’s it, I’m outta here!” (No, he wasn’t actually born for a few months.) It was so funny. ---

Happy times **Anne**! I had a friend with whom I used to pile stuff on her tummy and baby would kick it off. Actually, I remember doing that with my little sis before I ever even met her; I must’ve been about three. That’s so cool to think: that was the first interaction I ever had with her, and now we’re best friends. Even then, she existed, we played together, I think she really got that it was a game… ---

I’ve been thinking about you and **WhyBaby** a lot lately. She’s still doing well, yes? I do hope that my baby waits a little longer to be born than **WhyBaby** did. I’m looking forward to seeing what will happen when Luna, my cat who sits on my lap, feels the baby moving. She sometimes leans against my belly and purrs when she is in my lap (she knows I like this and give her treats for doing it), so I imagine she will eventually be able to feel some movement.
