A quick glance at my post history shows that my last post before this one was 3 years ago yesterday… I’m not sure exactly how it happened, but at some point I stopped visiting the SDMB and started going to reddit for almost all of my semi-pointless internet discussions and news. I just wanted to say, I’m ready to come back, if you’ll have me. ---

There is no substitute for the forum format. Period. Its decline to a fringe medium against the thought-whim media is a huge loss for what the internet could have been. Simple case in point: you can go back to any thread you posted in and pick up right where you left off. Some people do it ten years later. You’re lucky to get a full day on FB and Twitsy, maybe a week on Rubbit. ---

And yeah, I know you can pick how the comments are displayed, but on the one hand, you have the funniest/most helpful/most interesting comments at the very top, but by the time they reach the front page, they might be several hours old, and people seemingly abandon those threads forever once they’re done with them. Oh, well… ---
