I have the worst PMT I have had in a long long time. Spots - Check!! Bloated - Check! Craving chocolate - Check!! Backache - Check!! Sitting at work slowly fuming over something that wouldn’t normally bother me - Check!! Pissed off at anyone and everything - You betcha!! I am like the proverbial bear with a sore head today and I am also working in on office of male engineers. One person is currently talking loudly on his phone while letting his mobile ring on and on and on. I am currently thinking up imaginative ways to impale him with the damn thing. \*\*grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr \*\* ---

Whoohoo! That all sounds way too familiar! I don’t cry though, I get way irritable and the littlest things that never usually bother me just make me crazy. The same pile of magazines may have been there for the last 3 weeks but all of a sudden they are **Insulting** me! And woe betide my SO if he tries to joke around–those jokes are just **not** funny… Chips, cookies, Popcorn, chocolate, pretzels, ice cream…hmmm, do you ID a salt/sweet trend? This just really sucks! ---

Recent breakthroughs in medical research confirm finally that these symptoms begin roughly 12-14 days prior to the onset of menses, and cease roughly 10-12 days after menses ends. What? Oh, c’mon, SOMEONE had to go there… 😃 😃 😃 😃 😃 ---

PMS, for me, means sitting in a dark room feeling very depressed, and, usually, long, rambling, depressive Livejournal entries from me. And I can demolish maybe a quarter of my weight in chocolates in about three days, if so allowed (my dad’s students give him chocolate a lot. Mmm.) Right after my period’s over, though, I enter this sort of “blah” period for a couple of days, where I’m not particularly productive… I sit and watch paint dry and other exciting things like that. My friends call it “goldfish syndrome”, because I stare at the goldfish tank for hours on end during this time. _Sits in a corner watching all the Dopers come and go_ ---

I once made the right joke to the wrong woman at the wrong time and the large pasta pot that she had just filled with cold water got poured on me. I guess I learned my lesson. Now I just post them to the SDMB. ---

I just get really emotional. Not angry. Just all wet, like a damn blanket. Long-distance commercials, sad songs, and cheesy movies are all fair game for a Kleenex Fest. And I find myself eating a lot more, unless I make a conscious effort not to. AND I get so bloated I can’t zip up my pants. And I also get phantom cramps. Just to remind me of what’s coming. And then, when this is finally gone and I don’t get PMS anymore, I’m going to have a mustache and hot flashes. And I don’t care what the mags say; menopause ain’t sexy. It’s kind of like reaching your sell-by date. And somehow, I’m supposed to like being a girl. WWWAAAAAHHHH! ---

Speaking of the devil, has anyone here taken birth control pills nonstop, so as to prevent menstruation altogether? I’ve read about it in mags but I’m not currently on birth control…but I’m curious. Anyone? ---

Mmm two weeks ago I had pms and a minor car accident. Went on a five day crying jag. At one point I almost left my husband because he brought me my favourite things instead of the ones on sale. (Chocolate, wine, and chips. ) And flowers and ice cream which I did NOT request. My closest coworker friend says I repeat myself incessantly when Im premenstrual. I say No I dont, I just have to tell everyone what is on my mind. And I say it more than once because all people, especailly men and people on the phone, are stupid. Problem, next pms crisis day is on my mother in law’s birthday dinner. For me, the results include: My boobs get **HUGE** like massive over inflated water balloons. I put on about 5 lbs of water. When my period finally arrives, it’s a doozie. However, I am blissfully PMS free for an extended period of time, which is nice. ---

Hey **Audrey Levins** I do this. I take 3 X 21 days together then 7 days off. Don’t normally get PMS but this month was a bitch (See previous post!!) my boobs do grow a significant amount but I only have my period for 1 day. So to sum up - PMS once maybe twice a year if I am unlucky, single day periods and bigger boobs.
