COVID (nobody sick, thank GAWD), Trump’s lies, stores not having the stuff I want, too much HEAT, nonstop bad news, avoiding “certain” topics of conversation, and the cherry on top: scrolling in SDMB. I’m cranky. I might get over it. I might not. ~VOW ---

I wasn’t kidding about the cartoons. They distract the mind and eat up time, whereas snacks let you stew while you chew. I recommend watching something from the nineties, after they’d figured out that it was important to add a certain amount of plot and continuity to your toy commercials, but before the erosion of budgets did a number on the character design and animation quality. (Which is not to say that all modern stuff is bad; it’s just more of a crapshoot.) ---

In the last year, my 20-year old nephew committed suicide, his 2 year old son drowned, my sister was diagnosed with cancer and had her leg amputated two months ago and they just (Friday) found spots in her lungs. And that’s not counting all the national and international crap going on right now. StG ---

Indulgences that are postponed and then you can afford or finally have the time or energy or money to get. Fresh doughnuts, really good sourdough bread or bagels. Takeout Chinese. Pizza delivered. Said housemate cutting your quarantine hair on the front porch. But mostly kittens, grandkids and SD mumpers. ---

I dunno , maybe it’s unoriginal advice, but listen to music you like. Music from when you were seven, when you were 14, and of course later. This almost always cheers me up and helps me when I’m down. If i can’t enjoy music (which has happened), then I’m really shattered. ---

@EinsteinsHund I’ll pass your suggestion on to others. Being profoundly hearing impaired takes a LOT of fun out of music. I find myself looking up lyrics to Engelbert Humperdinck, or even early Beatles, and then I “sing” the words in my head as I remember the music. Ooo, or Patsy Cline! ~VOW ---

I’m not bothered by the scrolling. I don’t know why. I don’t use any other social media. I can scroll for days on Amazon looking for weird things. I read on the iPad by scrolling not page turning. I have a _Nook_ I do not like reading on it, because of the page flipper. So maybe that prepared me for scrolling. @VOW, I hope you feel better soon.
