# I've joined the 21st century Or: Recommend movies on Netflix.

My husband and I finally caved and got a Netflix account. Now I can have all the movies I want at my fingertips, but I have no idea how to narrow it down to things I would want to see.

I don’t have hard and fast rules for things I enjoy. I will like movies across a wide spectrum of genres for many different reasons. One action/adventure movie, for an example, can hold my attention and make me happy. Another could bore me entirely. I do love documentaries. Almost everything Tarantino’s come out with I enjoy. My favorite TV shows are Tim and Eric Awesome Show and Metalocalypse. My husband and I are huge nerds, so anything Star Trek or comic related is a big yes. He’s a video game tournament player, currently ranked third in the state for his favorite game, so anything video game related is a yes too.

So there, if you can infer from that something you think I’d like, suggest away. If you’d like to just recommend something you love and think everyone should see, suggest away. I’ll try to watch at least 20 minutes of what everyone suggests. Thanks!

If your Netflix home page is like ours, at the top you’ll have

Watch Instantly – Browse DVDs – Your Queue – Movies You’ll {heart}

If you click on the fourth tab (with the heart) you should see:

Suggestions – Rate Movies – Taste Preferences – Movies You’ve Rated

Rate some movies and tell them about your tastes and you should have a decent array to choose from. They’re maybe 75% accurate in our case. We’ve rated 2351 movies and have 185 Recommendations!

Under Browse DVDs you should see:  
Home – Genres ↓ – New Releases – Netflix Top 100 – Critics’ Picks – Award Winners

Examine those for more choices.
