I've lost 70 pounds... and now I'm starting to freak a little. Help.

So, as a 23 year old male that’s went from 350 to 250 in a year and hopes to be another ~100 pounds lighter in another year, what kind of skin problems might I be looking at? I’m half Stoid’s age and the male body seems to be more forgiving than the female one so I have an edge but how much of one? I’ve done my best to not think about since beginning my diet (lifestyle change, whatever) but this seems like the best time to finally confront it.

And thanks, SlyFrog. I appreciate it.

Assuming you’re not very short, you’ll have some stretch marks on your arms, legs and thighs, but if you keep to a moderate loss rate of 1-3 lbs per week it’s unlikely (at your age) that you’re going to have saggy flesh bags. Working out is key in keeping up skin tone (via the musculature underneath). If you just lose the weight and don’t tone your muscles you may look a bit sloppy.

Men and women who are in good shape musclewise can carry a lot more weight and still look good than people who are more sedentary and out of shape (muscularity wise).

I have a friend who had one breast that was A LOT bigger than the other. She had one implant and had the other lifted to match the augmented one. She looks faaaaabulous!

I intend to join a gym once I have the funds necessary but define “very short”. I’m 5’7", which is on the short side for a guy but not what I’d call “very”.

As someone who has gained and lost substantial amounts of weight in my time her are some suggetstions.
Gyms are convenient, but unecessary for getting in shape. A place where you can walk 2 miles without getting mugged in the evening, a 6 foot foam workout mat, some inexpensive hand weights and a sturdy bench or chair are all you need.

Here’s a light routine perfect for people losing weight.

Walk 2 miles 3 times a week - (leisurely walk takes approx 40 minutes per 2 mile circuit)

3 times week do the following two exercises (entire set should take approx 20-30 minutes)

a: Do 30-50 (or more if desired) partial (girl type) situps at a time (take as many breaks as you need)

b: Sitting, do 2 sets of dumbell curls off the upper thigh/knee. Position is sitting and bent over, weight in hand with elbow resting on the upper thigh, with 25 lb dumbells (or more depending on your strength level). Go down toward floor and up to chest as many times as you can until failure - Do both arms and then after a minute or so rest repeat for both arms.

You can make the walks and workout set the same day or alternate days. It really doesn’t matter. This is not a perfect workout but it’s, quick, easy, relatively non-exhausting and hits a reasonable number the major upper body muscle groups. Walking is by far the most important thing to do even if you don’t want to pick up a weight, a person losing weight needs to develop the habit of walking regularly if they want to have any hope of keeping it off.

Yeah, I know you can do all the exercise you want with no equipment needed but in addition to wanting to lose weight, I am trying to make myself less of an introvert and shut-in and being in a building full of other people instead of alone in my room has a greater chance of allowing social interaction.

And I’m already walking more than I used to by parking at the end of parking lots, taking stairs instead of elevators or escalators, taking multiple trips to take out the trash, and a lot of other little things but I still try not to push it too much… I broke my leg last November when I got hit in a crosswalk and it doesn’t like it when I tell it to do too much work.

Here’s a slidehow of a guy that lost 340 lbs and needed to have extra skin removed . Click on “slideshows”. Video links are inactive.
