I've seen fire and I've seen rain 2 (Part 1)

Growing up it all seems so one-sided
Opinions all provided
The future pre-decided
Detached and subdivided
In the mass production zone

Nowhere is the dreamer
Or the misfit so alone

Subdivisions
In the high school halls
In the shopping malls
Conform or be cast out
Subdivisions
In the basement bars
In the backs of cars
Be cool or be cast out

Underground the ants are riding in the subways.
They’re facing faces that they’ve never faced before,
They lean against the doors although the sign says not to.
57th Street, the shoppers walking sideways,
High-heeled women like flamingos on a beach,
Their dreams are within their reach inside.

Think about it all and it gets scary,
I tend to freeze up at the starting line.
In my head’s a rhyming dictionary,
It ain’t poetic but it’s still -
A Beautiful Place

When all the little ants are marching
Red and black antennas waving
They all do it the same
They all do it the same way

The ants go marching ten by ten, hurrah, hurrah
The ants go marching ten by ten, hurrah, hurrah
The ants go marching ten by ten,
The little one stops to shout “The End”,
And they all go marching down to the ground
To get out of the rain.

Marching on a dusty road
They are on their way to Rome
Countless slaves to go to war
And they are fighting not alone

On their way so confident
They are carrying missile and spear
The desperation disappeared
And victory is near

Onward, Christian soldiers,
marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus
going on before!
Christ, the royal Master,
leads against the foe;
Forward into battle,
see his banner go!

Well, I’m gonna lay down my burden, down by the riverside
Down by the riverside, down by the riverside
I’m gonna lay down my burden, down by the riverside
Study war no more

Well I ain’t a gonna study war no more, I ain’t a gonna study war no more
I ain’t a gonna study war no more, no more, no more, no more
I ain’t a gonna study war no more, I ain’t a gonna study war no more
I ain’t a gonna study war no more

I ain’t gonna work on Maggie’s farm no more
No, I ain’t gonna work on Maggie’s farm no more
Well, I wake up in the morning, fold my hands and pray for rain
I got a head full of ideas that are drivin’ me insane
It’s a shame, the way she makes me scrub the floor
I ain’t gonna work on Maggie’s farm no more

Blood stains the ivories
Of my daddy’s baby grand
I ain’t seen no daylight
Since we started this band

No more, no more
No more, no more

Store bought clothes
Falling part at the seams
Tea leaf reading gypsies
Fortune telling my dreams

No more, no more
No more, no more

I’m malicious, mean, and scary
My sneer could curdle dairy
And violence-wise, my hands are not the cleanest
But despite my evil look and my temper and my hook
I’ve always yearned to be a concert pianist

Can’t you see me on the stage performing Mozart?
Tickling the ivories til they gleam?
Yes, I’d rather be called deadly
For my killer show tune medley
Thank you!
Cuz way down deep inside I’ve got a dream

He thinks he’s won his Josephine,
But though the sky is now serene,
A frowning thunderbolt above
May end their ill-assorted love
Which now is all ablaze.

Our captain, ere the day is gone,
Will be extremely down upon
The wicked men who art employ
To make his Josephine less coy
In many various ways.

Son of Corsica, born apart
The glory of France seared on my heart
Though my fifty-one years seem short to you
My time was not mine and there’s nothing we can do

Tuscan nobility thrust from my home
Made my own legacy, built my own throne
Freedom financial, fearsome fighters
Lighting the flame of my empire
Victory, dominion ’til Waterloo
The Old Guard defeated, there’s nothing we can do

You say the price of my love’s not a price that you’re willing to pay
You cry in your tea that you hurl in the sea when you see me go by
Why so sad? Remember we made an arrangement when you went away
Now you’re making me mad; remember, despite our estrangement, I’m your man

You’ll be back, soon you’ll see, you’ll remember you belong to me
You’ll be back, time will tell; you’ll remember that I served you well
Oceans rise, empires fall; we have seen each other through it all
And when push comes to shove, I will send a fully-armed battalion to remind you of my love

I’m at the borderline of my faith
I’m at the hinterland of my devotion
In the frontline of this battle of mine
But I’m still alive

I’m a soldier of love.
Every day and night
I’m soldier of love
All the days of my life

We are the warriors at the edge of time
We are Humanity’s scythe to sweep this way and that
And cut the Enemy down as weeds
We are Humanity’s spade to dig up the roots wherever they have grown
We are Humanity’s fire to burn the waste to the finest ash
We are the wind which will blow the ash away
As if it had never existed
We will destroy those Enemies

We are the world, we are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So lets start giving

The world won’t get no better if we just let it be
The world won’t get no better
We gotta change it yeah, just you and me (yeah, yeah)

Walkin’ down the street, smoggy-eyed
Looking at the sky, starry-eyed
Searchin’ for the place, weary-eyed
Crying in the night, teary-eyed
Don’t you know that it’s true
That for me and for you
The world is a ghetto

The world is a vampire
Sent to drain
Secret destroyers
Hold you up to the flames
And what do I get
For my pain?
Betrayed desires
And a piece of the game

When the world is a monster
Bad to swallow you whole
Kick the clay that holds the teeth in
Throw your trolls out the door
If you’re needing inspiration
Philomath is where I go by dawn
Lawyer Jeff, he knows the lowdown
He’s mighty bad to visit home

(I’ve been there, I know the way)
Can’t get there from here
