# I've seen Ringu. What, if anything, should I do next?

If I have the right movie in mind, and I think I do, _Kairo_ is being released as _Pulse_. It’s even getting an (extremely) limited one-week theatrical release here in Los Angeles.
I’ll second the mentions of _Uzumaki_ and especially the original _Dark Water_.
I’ll also add that when I watched _Ringu_, right as the credits had finished rolling, my friend called me, completely coincidentally. I don’t think I’ve ever answered a phone with so much trepidation. :eek:

i’d personally reccomend “tomie” its a great flick and my friends said the sequels we all pretty good too

Not Japanese, but Thai: I recommend [Nang-Nak](http://www.brns.com/thaifilms/pages/thai1.html) (Ghost Wife). Kind of a mystery/creepy love story with a horror twist.

BTW, the link has two paragraphs in blue text. The first gives a general underlying theme of the movie, the second gives spoilers and may contain a deadly curse.

I also liked Shusuke Kaneko’s [Pyrokinesis](http://www.cine-east.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=3_24_43&products_id=914) (sometimes called “Cross Fire”). Again this is not horror (unless you consider Stephen King’s Firestarter to be horror), but I liked this somewhat better than Firestarter.

Oh, I’d also recommend the Chinese movie _The Eye_, which doesn’t have the strongest story in the world, but is a pretty effective movie otherwise. (There’s also a sequel, but I haven’t seen it yet…)

I enjoyed both **Ringu** and the U.S. version (I especially liked the part where the mother told her son that she’d released the girl in the well and he explained that she’d just unleashed evil. what a great fake ending , but actually saw the Asian **Ring 2** before anything. I found it scary at the time, but in retrospect it’s a little slow.Both **Ju-On** were close to boring, not scaring me to death. I did like Thailand’s contribution to the whole Asian ghost story genre (creepy children, haunted photos, etc.), **Shutter** was pretty good, if not a little long.

I’ve never understood this part. How would things have been different if she _hadn’t_ done what she’d done? As far as I can see, her actions made no difference.

In the US version it sets up her greater powers in the sequel because she now no longer has to abide by the 7 day rule. I can’t remember about the Japanese one.

The conversation doesn’t take place in the Japanese version. Yoichi (the son) has no idea who Sadako is.
