I love not only that they dubbed it a ‘cat fight’ (because no men were involved, duh. The same way I imagine they’d have trouble calling two women going at it ‘sex’), but that they made a point of calling the perp her ‘lesbian girlfriend.’ That’s a tad redundant.

Another story [here](http://www.nypost.com/seven/01152009/gossip/pagesix/make_up_loving_150179.htm) indicates the pair is going to the Sundance festival together. If that’s all true, yeah, it probably was just a silly catfight worthy of being laughed at and certainly not worth the media attention its gotten.
I DO think it was in poor taste to start a thread laughing at an apparently vicious attack (reported by the OP’s link to result in hospitalization) without an explanation for those who don’t follow the Jets. It seems a bit extreme to call it “threadshitting” when someone pointed out the non-humourous aspects of the story and pressed for an explanation of why the Jets make an otherwise unfunny story so amusing. But at least it seems the domestic violence aspect of the story was exaggerated - if not entirely fabricated - by the aunt quoted in the article.

Actually, this is kind of tricky.
If they said lesbian friend, I wouldn’t think there was a relationship between the two other than a friendship. And if they had said “girlfriend” my mind would probably jump to the idea that “ooh, they’re lesbians!” and then I’d immediately shoot that one down as me just being biased, since plenty of women refer to their female friends as girlfriends. So I think lesbian girlfriend was a pretty good job of clarifying the differences there.
