\ The Littlest Briston dearly loves the alphabet. Say the letter “A” to her, and she’s immediately busting out with her full rendition of the Alphabet Song. She’s got a ton of alphabet-based educational toys, games and puzzles. It’s the puzzles that we’re looking at today. One of them has 26 little wooden shapes, each with a letter printed on it, along with a little picture of something that begins with that letter. So she and I are in the living room playing with the puzzle together. I’m pointing to the pieces one by one and asking her about them. “What’s that letter?” _“A!”_ “And ‘A’ is for…?” _“Apple!”_ “Very good…what’s that letter?” _“B!”_ “Uh huh…and ‘B’ is for…?” _“Banana!”_ “Right! And…” …And so on and so on. Then we get to “J”, which has a picture of a jar of jelly on it. I was curious as to what she would say was on there. “Jar”? “Jelly”? Maybe “Jam”? “Ok Shayla…what’s that letter?” _“J!”_ “Right…and ‘J’ is for…?” [spoiler]_“Jeopardy!”_ Our morning routine is to watch the previous night’s _Jeopardy_ while we have breakfast. Two years old, and she’s _obsessed_ with the show, to the point where she gets upset if we don’t watch it in the morning.[/spoiler] Love that kid. 🙂 ---

Heh, sounds like a smart one, **Hal Briston**. I’ll bet you wind up with a zillion more of those stories by the time she’s ten. When I picked up my son from his first day of kindergarten, the teacher took me aside and said she had asked the children to name something that starts with “H”. Horsey, house, hat…Wolfgang said, “Hologram”. 😃 ---
