Liked him as Major Nelson and loved him in the first incarnation of _Dallas_. I remember actually _caring_ who shot J. R. By the way, I called it. Kristin did it.

Never much of a fan of Larry Hagman’s work, (both _I Dream Of Jeanie_ and _Dallas_ were before my time) but I have to admire a successful Hollywood actor who maintained a marriage for nearly 60 years.
Speaks to his character, and that of his wife as well…

He was also very good, holding his own opposite Henry Fonda, as the Russian translator in _Fail-Safe_. May he rest in peace.

Another childhood memory in the can. I still like watching I Dream of Jeanie for historic shots of cars, aircraft and rockets. Of course I liked it for different reasons when it was first shown. Sadly I now look for the Pontiac convertibles, F104’s and early rocket launches.

How ironic. In the Dallas reboot it was Bobby who was ill and J.R. who was at his bedside. I watched the first season and enjoyed every moment he was on screen. I wonder if John Ross will become every bit as ruthless as his father was.

RIP, Major Nelson. ☹
Odd, but BBC and other news services I’ve seen today have not even mentioned _I Dream of Jeannie_. My wife assures me it did play here in Thailand back in the day. She watched it here as a little girl. I’m another one who never watched _Dallas_, not a single episode, and will always remember him most as Major Nelson.
I just checked, and I see Bill Daily is still alive. 85 years old and living in Albuquerque. He was there when I lived there too, and I remember he would have these sporadic cooking shows on local TV.
