1. You know the Big Bad is working on biological weapons.
2. You know the Big Bad has kidnapped some health workers.
3. The health workers are magically abandoned by the Sheik’s people.
4. You do not connect these three pieces of info together at all.

Resulting in:

1. PotUS get’s up close and personal with one of the kidnappees.

In real life there’f be people in bunny suits actually handling the kidnappees at the compound.
Sheesh.

Just too much of this. Plus the magic of Jack Ryan always being able to communicate with the Sheik at the right time. Very contrived.

I do like the actors, though.

> Only saw ep 1 though, and chuckled at the scene where the rich guy, trying to get info out of Ryan, remarked (paraphrasing) “your biggest regret will be that you realized you wanted this (rich 'n fancy) life and you blew it years ago”. Of course, I then tried to retcon this with the novels where Jack is a millionaire who worked on “the Street” for some period of his life (his potentially-shady dealings with one of the companies he worked with was a minor plot point in one of the novels) and was asking myself if Jack was already wealthy by this point, or does that come afterward.

The rich guy is a megamillionaire; Ryan is a mere millionaire. Or rather, the former has an income in the millions; Ryan has assets in the millions.

He has a very nice house all to himself.
