I thought I read later that it was actually in brownies, or something like that.
That would explain why he didn’t inhale.
I like Obama`s response to the question: “When I was a kid I inhaled… frequently. That was the point”
I have absolutely no idea what you mean by this.
You’ve lost me.
I meant that equating abortion to murder is well enough established that it could be a simple mistake to think that it was a threatening bumpersticker. I’m not convinced now that it ‘really meant’ impeach.
I would imagine that his watch commander had standing orders to contact the SS, and that they had standing orders to investigate.
I’m not seeing the whole Jackbooted thing
I’m not convinced it really meant to impeach either, though neither am I convinced that it was a injunction for someone to go out and murder the President.
However, it’s a fucking bumper sticker. If the Secret Service is supposed to be investigating people’s bumper stickers because of a hazy possible threat against the President, then why aren’t they nicely asking to search the Aryan Nations compound or the homes of members of Christian Patriot groups or other armed-resistance fanatics?
They may well be, for all we know. They’re certainly not about to tell us about it, or to say how they tell if someone’s a real threat or a poseur. They do have the cooperation of the more-public authorities too, I’m sure.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence, btw, that there’s been no attack on a President since Hinckley’s. I would certainly expect, or at least hope, that the Service’s approach to protecting Presidents has been more proactive and in-depth since.
I don’t think they did investigate a bumpersticker. I think they investigated a report from a local law enforcement agency, and I suspect that whoever dispached the agents had no authority to blow it off, even if he was rolling his eyes.
This is not, strictly speaking, true. A large majority of the Board…the general public…and the peoples of the Earth…were indeed Bush-bashers, but almost certainly a mix of lefty, centrist, green, and righty types, all of whom had plenty of reasons to bash Bush.
Don’t confuse people’s assessments of the man and his negative effects on the country with anyone’s politcal starting point.
Grow up
You win the thread!
