I happen to agree that Art Monk belongs in the Hall of Fame, but I’m afraid I can’t get outraged that James Lofton got in first.
They were both great receivers, and they’ll both be in the Hall of Fame. So, relax!
There must be LOADS of players in the Pro Football Hall of Fame far less deserving than James Lofton. It baffles me why anyone would seize on HIM as an example of an unworthy inductee. By all means, campaign for Monk, but there’s no reason to deny how great Lofton was, in his prime- even if he WAS a coke-head, and even if he IS one of the worst TV football commentators I’ve ever heard.
