What made that year so bad is the fact that them losses were the only things that happened. My mom was also in three car accidents in just that year alone, on January 9th, May 25th, and the day before Christmas Eve. Preachers call these โ€œtest of faith,โ€ but when He does them to people who have not even heard of Him it crosses the line into monstrous and sadistic, and neither a God who doesnโ€™t care about us nor one who actively hates us is worthy of our worship. This leads us to: 1. There is no God, at least as we understand Him. This is actually a comforting thought, compared with a weak God, a God who doesnโ€™t care, and a psycho-crazy God. Sure, He canโ€™t help us, but at least Heโ€™s not out to get us. Your mother is not sick because 26 years ago God set her up with a prolonged test of her faith, nor is she sick because God doesnโ€™t care about her. Sheโ€™s sick because bad things happen to good people, good things happen to bad people, and itโ€™s all because of randomness and the long train of coincidences that people find so hard to accept. ---
