Anyway, this is a serious question, because you have dismissed Jesus’s actual words in the actual Bible (turn the other cheek) but give credence to a song about Hell by Trace Adkins. The NT wants people to love each other and not hurt each other, but when you’re told your words hurt, you howl that we don’t have the right to shut you down for saying what you believe. ---

Tried to add this bit but ran afoul of the editing limit- So I really am curious - does your view of “what’s right” mean you can and should hurt people? Hurting yourself is clearly wrong, but is it okay to hurt people unnecessarily? There are quite a few people on this board who have lost people to depression, including me, so when you take such a strident stand that our loved ones are burning eternally - well, it comes across as cruel. ---

I consider it a form of sport. So on I spent Tuesday night swatting Trolly around for sport and had a pretty good time. Did you always have the opportunity to walk away? Did you ever choose to do so? If so, I must have missed that. Just because she likes to have the last word doesn’t mean you have to. Holly lacks some social skills, no doubt. She is the guest who steps over the pile of shoes at the door and smiles obliviously when you glare at her wearing shoes while everyone else is barefoot. When you ask her “would you like me to take your shoes and put them over here?” She says “no that’s ok I’ll keep them on!” She is awkward and hides behind her belief system to both reinforce who she is and give you the permission to not like her or disagree with her or whatever. It’s pretty simple actually. She is who she is, you are who you are. No one is going to change. No one is making you hold that hot coal; you’re choosing to do it and then accusing her of the burn on your hand. ---
