James Randi calls time on the $1 million dollar prize ...

What can I say? I have a foolish optimism.

I’m a psychic so I knew this was going to happen.

Also… 2011, Detroit Lions win the Superbowl, watch.

I guess you haven’t met lekatt yet. This is as good an introduction as any.

I wasn’t looking in a mirror when I said it, but hopefully he will now appear and comment from a viewpoint that perhaps slightly contrasts the consensus. I’m looking forward to it.

Randi is such a condescending a-hole that, were it possible for me to do so, I’d believe in psychic hokum just to spite him. He doesn’t seem to understand that you don’t win people over to your side by looking down your nose at them. He can take his $1 million and park it in a dark place, for all I care.

Mangetout, you are a baaaaad person.

You could just say shut up and go away, that is the common response from skeptics on this board, or you could do some research yourself and find more psychics, maybe even get interested enough to study the material. I believe that would be the honest way if you are real scientist. Who knows, you might learn something that would be helpful to you. But whatever you choose, I wish you the best.

I don’t think that’s true, but with just a few links, you could change my mind.

I know this will be hard for you to believe, but really famous psychics get flooded with requests for help. They can’t possibly meet the demand on their time, so they charge large fees in order to limit the demand. Then they hold free sessions, and give money to build centers for people to come to who can’t pay the large fees. They also do other charity work, money means little to a real psychic, only a source to help others with.

Good point. We should launch a multi million dollar study to discover the nature and extent of Tinkerbell’s power. Next we will devote resources to the WonderTwins and conclude with a serious dissertation on the elusive Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy. Then we should hire Dan Akroyd to bring back the Ghost Busters so we can get some serious scientific participation…

Especially since a real psychic could find out what tomorrows winning lottery numbers will be.

It is no joke, and Noreen is just one of many psychics that help law enforcement. Heck, I have even participated in a case, yes, the criminal was caught. There was a group of us.

I didn’t really think a thread with ‘Randi’ in the title would get over one page before he chipped in. I was a little surprised that he hadn’t already started this thread.

I’m interested to see his reaction.

lekatt, you seem convinced that most of the skeptics on this board are of the ‘shut up and go away’ mindset. You may be right but I’m willing to bet that a good number of them would be persuaded by a proper double-blind demonstration. Now that Randi will be out the picture perhaps we can find someone acceptable to both sides to do this – do you think that’s possible?

Actually they charge large fees to get more money, just like the rest of us.

But I say, God Bless 'em.

The witless need hope and the real world is cruelly real.

What would be a serious test? There have been serious tests of psychics on television. Last summer a group of psychics competed for a prize on one show. I have also seen others, just keep your eyes open and you will see.

As for all psychics being 100%, of course not, are all doctors 100%. I don’t believe any psychic is 100% nor any other person in any profession. Some psychic are better than others, and some that claim psychic ability have very little. That is the nature of life itself.

The spirit world is fair and just with all people. Most psychics rely on help from the spirit world. Your guides can not give you the lottery numbers nor the horse that will win the race. Real psychics never try.

Yes, I think it is possible, and I think some good psychics would love to participate. I saw a TV show years ago that had five psychics read five clients. The psychics were not aware of the other psychics duplicating their readings. It was amazing how close the five different readings of each client was. Maybe something like this or what would you propose?

No one challenges your right to believe nonsence, believe as you will.

This is a verifiable claim, so if you are sincere about wanting to convince me and other skeptics of the truth of your position (and not just dropping in to take passive-aggressive potshots at skeptics), please provide details. Exactly where and when did this occur, what was the crime committed, and what were the names of the criminal and victim(s)? Was it publicized in the news (regular news sites, not yours or someone else’s blog) that the case was solved thanks to information provided by a psychic, and if so, do you have a link to that article? (I’d think it would be pretty newsworthy.)

Regardless, it should be a simple enough matter to contact the law enforcement office involved and ask them to confirm that Noreen and your group of psychics were instrumental in cracking the case. I would be more than happy to do so myself.

Isn’t this like saying no-one has proven the existence of baseball? I thought cold reading was a demonstrable skill, usable by anyone with a little practice and the inclination to do so.

I’ll stick with reality, thank you very much. Can you name one real psychic?
