Alright, I’ve heard the story (as you all have) that Jamie Lee Curtis is really a guy but is androgen insensitive and/or has Turner’s Syndrome so has outwardly feminine sexual organs. I checked the urban legends page on this and found nothing. Can someone provide a (preferrably medical) Website that offers any kind of proof this is definitively true or false? ---

From looking at some of the revealing outfits at this [Jamie Lee Curtis](http://www.bomis.com/cgi-bin/ring.cgi?page=1&ring=jamieleecurtis&t=12940) page, I seriously doubt this urban legend. It just seems to follow that any celebrity that adopts children is assumed to be gay/lesbian or a physical mutant. Perhaps she or her husband have some health problem (besides hermaphrodisis) that does preclude natural childbirth. I’m curious about how the rumor got started. Is it because she looks so much like her father? IIRC, androgen-insensitive males are pretty much indistinguishable from XX women, externally. They have breasts and female-looking genitals, but they don’t have ovaries or a uterus. They do tend to have longer legs and narrower hips than the average woman. That would only be an asset, though, by Hollywood beauty standards. Her photos certainly don’t rule out the UL by that criterion. (If stereotypes about actresses are true, Lovitz was using a particularly unreliable test.) It’s nobody’s business but hers. But this sort of question always does play interesting hell with our notions of gender. ---

It just so happens that both of them have very noticable facial characteristics. I think the rumor got started after she adopted children. hmm . . ive followed her career casually over the years since “operation petticoat”, first ive heard of this . . . i dont have an answer, this i do know . . i met her once at a fundraiser . . she kissed me open mouth . . and i was too blasted/speechless to pursue the matter . . she was still into partying then and was very available. . . still kicking myself . . ---

I’ve heard the same rumors about the actress who played Kristen on Days of Our Lives and Marilyn Monroe. I heard it from a friend who claims to have heard it from her psychology professor, but since she offered no other proof I’m not buying it. ---

I don’t see what the big deal is - I mean, it is a curious matter, and we all can be a little nosy. I’ll admit that I can be as nosy as the next person. But - she’s a lovely woman. If she has some wonky genes inside of her, or something else, does that make her less of a lovely female? Nope! A lot of people are born with genetic abnormalities. It’s a medical issue, they deal with it, and move on. Maybe that’s all she’s doing. And since when is adopting such a unique thing? Many couples have fertility problems. MANY. It would never occur to me to question someone’s gender because they wanted to adopt, and/or were unable to have children of their own. (Actually, when you adopt, those children become “your own” too.) ---

According to the Turner’s Syndrome website, “Turner Syndrome is a chromosomal condition causing short stature and infertility in women and girls.” I’m not sure if JLC has kids, but she’s definetly not short. * * * Formerly unknown as “Melanie” ---
