What was really annoying was that not one of the squillion battery birds adorning the shelves came with giblets. Why the hell not? Is there a European giblet mountain languishing squishily somewhere in Kent? Have they genetically engineered out giblets from broiler hens? Buggered up my gravy something proper, that little oddity did.
Most people don’t want them. So most people got what they wanted.
I had the opposite, at least initially; you couldn’t buy a free range chicken in Sainsbury’s for love nor money for a week after the first show, at least not without getting up at 5am. Which was irksome, my having promised a Sunday roast to my flatmates.

Here in Canada at least, when I take my chickens to slaughter, I have to pay extra if I want my chicken organs. Off the top of my head, I think it was .50 cents more.

Yes this is what pisses me off.
One time giblets came with the chicken or if you asked they’d give you a whole load of 'em.
Nowadays you have to buy a carton of chicken livers/hearts for around 70p…and a frickin small carton at that
Bastards
chowder:
Since Olivers programme I have to say that I’ve noticed far more free range chickens on offer in my local Tesco.
Yes the “other” kind are still on sale but there seems to be far fewer of them, no longer are masses of them on offer at 2 for a fiver
Update: my local Tesco now has them at £1.99 a pop.
