Having recently visited the National Mall for the first time, I’m suddenly struck by the march from the White House to the Capitol itself. I mean it’s about a fifteen minute stroll, stopping for pictures, if you’re not in a hurry. Having the layout pretty well entrenched in my mind, it makes the image of the mob marching though the mall more unsettling for me. ---

My understanding is it was another witness, one who anonymously corroborated Hutchinson’s prior testimony. ETA: Anonymous to _us_, but not to the Committee members. ---

The radio traffic exchanged as the Capitol police and Secret Service personnel tried to move people in the Capitol to safety is new. The fear in their voices is obvious. ---

They are really focusing on Pence again. I wonder if they’re hoping it will convince him to testify. I actually think his daughter or son-in-law (who were with him that day) might be compelling witnesses. ---

Ms. Matthews graduated from the same journalism school as me, Kent State. Wonder if being deeply entrenched in the stories of May 4th (it all unfolded in front of the Journalism building and the Journalism students do a lot of May 4th related stuff) played in to her resigning on Jan 6. Or like, she’s at least a decent person. ---

Did I hear all that right? What I think I heard is that Trump’s Secret Service group does not “sound good,” and that Pence’s SS detail members clarified that they were becoming afraid of _other SS members_ who were in the Trump camp, because it was they, Trump’s SS folks, who were saying the Pence group should call their families to say goodbye. Someone please tell me I misunderstood that bit.
