You’ll try anything to generate revenues and taxes when your economy has been stagnant since the 1990s. Makes perfect sense to me from a short-term financial perspective, not that it’s a good idea in the long run. ---

Probably a good thing. Japan’s salaryman drinking culture is nuts, so I hear. It’s like mandatory work socialization, combined with frat-boy-style hazing. People seem to do it out of ritual and habit, not because they actually enjoy it. ---

Maybe it will lead to more unprotected sex as well, improving their age demographic situation. ---

Gaming makes away with the need to drink alcohol and have sex. Now there’s a Japanese conundrum, considering some of their biggest businesses.
