1940s cartoon [Spider and Tulip](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lmATJcS9Hw). Looking for translations of the songs and dialog between the spider and the ladybug. There used to be a version on youtube with the translation, but I can’t find it now. (I get the gist: Ladybug is singing a happy little ditty. Spider is wondering who is going to sleep in his hammock (web). Spider invites ladybug over to his parlor. . . . ) ---

No way I can justify the time for translating a 15 minute film, but a quick search turned up [Japanese Classic Films: Translation and Subtitling Project](https://www.lib.umn.edu/eastasian/japanese-classic-films-translation-and-subtitling-project) with a link to a subtitled version. ---

This university site appears to require a login to play the films. At least, all I get is a static screen, and an option to log in (which I can’t). ---

Well the ladybug is singing (loosely translated): _Lady-lady-ladybug the child of the Sun, Peeks upon a flower, good morning there, Stops upon a leaf, good day to you, Lady-lady-ladybug so very small, The Sun is big and bright, Here and there and everywhere, so big and bright._ The spider is singing: _Rocking back and forth, my silver hammock, I’ll give anyone a ride. Who shall be the very first to take a ride? Who shall be the very first to take a ride?_ But like everyone else, too long to translate. A lot of rotoscoping, I notice. I also saw a comment, in Japanese, which pointed out that this was made several years later than Fantasia. So, for as impressive as it may seem at first blush, it’s actually pretty late in the game. The spider has a great voice.
