# Jason Priestley is \*how\* short?

Was reading a story on Yahoo about tall and short celebrities at lunch today (don’t you judge me), and it said Jason Priestley is only 5’ tall.

This does not even seem possible. So I look for a [cast picture from his 90210 days](http://theremotegeneration.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/beverly-hills-90210-cast.png) to see if he’s freakishly shorter than the other dudes (and girls). While definitely the shortest dude in the cast, he doesn’t seem to be oddly disproportional.
So I Google “Shannon Doherty height” and it says she’s 5’3", even though Brandon-- I mean Jason-- is clearly taller than she is in the cast pic. Although at this point I just don’t know \*who \*I can trust to give me accurate celebrity heights anymore.
What gives here? Why is there a concerted effort to convince us that Jason Priestley only 5-feet tall? And why hasn’t the mainstream media picked up on this conspiracy?

I would love to comment but first I have to figure out which one is Jason and which one is Shannon. If someone slightly older would be so kind as to give their places in the line, that would be a great help.

The two brunettes in the middle. I’d say he’s 5’7", as you said Shannen is 5’3", and Tori Spelling to his left – in flats – is listed 5’6". IMDb has him at 5’8".

Your first link shows heights of 5.0 5’6" 5’6.5" 5’7" and 5’8"
It seems that the 5.0 is simply wrong.
At about 5’7" his height seems correct in proportion to someone 5’3" in the picture of the second link.

Yeah, I don’t really see how he could be 5’0" and IMDB, for what it’s worth says he’s 5’8". That being said, a lot of actors are known for being shorter than you’d think. Tom Cruise is the most famous and reportedly has stood on boxes out of frame in order to give the impression that he’s taller than his onscreen love interests.

So this makes me wonder what the source of the Google and Yahoo info is, saying he’s only 5’ tall.
Actually, I’m guessing the Yahoo story author just googled “Jason Priestly height” and went with the first thing she saw. But where is Google getting its info?

Stallone, schwarzenegger, henry winkler are all noted for being short. I have a hard time picturing a male actor being just 5’ though. That is almost a dwarf.

Ben Stiller is relatively short (somewhere between 5’5" and 5’8" depending on which source you believe). And Vince Vaughn is pretty tall (6’5" which is probably accurate because tall actors usually have less reason to lie).

[There’s a thread here about it](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=328222), and Wikipedia also has a whole section about it. I’m inclined to believe he’s closer to 5’10" than 6’2".
At any rate, neither are “short.”

Yeah, he has an event in Columbus Oh ( sometype of weight lifting thing) and everybody who stands near him or sees him up close comments how short he is. I guess if you’re a celeb and not 8 feet talk, your short.

I think you’re mis-reading the very badly written caption. Because I did too. It’s saying that Jason Priestly’s friend Brandon Walsh is the little guy. Not that I know who either of them are.

Scott Caan is 5’5", which is funny because he often plays a tough guy, and he has tons of scenes on Hawaii Five-0 with Alex O’Loughlin, who is about 6’0".
The cameramen obviously try to minimize the discrepancy but there’s only so much they can do when they’re on set or walking or whatever.

I was an extra on _90210_ many years back, and spent a fair amount of time talking with and standing next to Jason Priestly. He’s not tall, but he’s not remarkably short, either. I’d say 5’8" could be accurate.
