# Java and Chrome

So confusing for me. I use an old version of windows XP for work. In the past, if I accidently updated Java, the program I need to use got totally hosed, had to be deleted and then reinstalled, and was this was a huge nuisance.

So, they recently changed the vpn I need to access the work computer. The new vpn will not work with the ancient edition of IE I am forced to use. I can access it via Chrome, on the same computer. But to work, Chrome says I need to update Java. I want to be very careful here. I need to update Java, but only for Chrome, it cannot be generally updated on my computer. How do I do this, so that I can access the VPN, but not screw up everything else. I know it can be done, or at least have been told so, but need instructions for dummy’s so I do not mess things up.
